Waterfalls were great! 15 months ago

I highly recommend this trip – Ricketts Glen in PA – near Scranton. A long hike (~10 miles in 4 hours from the campground to the trails and back), but well worth it.

See as close to 1000 things as possible 15 months ago

This could take a long item to accomplish. Recntly got the 1000 things to see before you die book for the USA. Need to see how many I’ve done already – next one will be Ricketts State Park in PA this week – 20+ waterfalls in a single state park. Can’t wait!

43 of the 50 states and counting 3 years ago

I would encourage anyone to do so, but it requires a lot of sacrifice and Day Labor if you’re not rich…but it is completely possible. Sell everything you can’t replace, put the rest in storage with a friend you trust or family member. Look up SCA or Renaissance faires, carnivals, etc that cost very little to set up merchant booths…buy a tent with a small fondue pot and a mini grill, a fishing pole and if you are willing to hunt for food the ability to do so. You need a reliable car, for driving and a safe place to sleep when you’re stuck somewhere and looking for funds. I never needed to sleep in my car, though, state camp grounds and local camp grounds are inexpensive and everywhere. Buy a small US road map and plan out a general idea using places that have Day Labor and faires you can sell things at to aim for. You can purchase a bulk supply of incense or jewelry making items to have little tid bits to have a little booth (thats why I suggest the SCA they are very inexpensive or cheap to set up merchant booths and camp for a weekend). And…breathe…let go of everything…and just go. Have faith it will work out, and always have a person who you know when you make it back you can crash with. Also, people you want to visit on the way are places to crash for a day or two while you do some Day Labor and make extra cash. Cheese doesn’t go bad so bread and cheese are your best friends for food. If you ever, ever get stuck somewhere go to the state office there and tell them you were abandoned by friends and they are usually willing to help get you a bus ticket home.
GIRLS SHOULD NEVER TRAVEL ALONE…always have a male friend because the car most likely will break down at some point with minor issues. Have a spare tire and keep on top of oil changes and spark plugs. All cheap, but good to have. There are battery re chargers you can get but most batteries are $30 at walmart and have a year warranty. Camp and live cheap, take film for pictures if you want and a digital if you have one. Every city has a free public computer you can keep in touch via email with friends and family, as well as keep looking for the next faires to set up as a merchant, and look for the next Day Labor city.
Its not really hard, it is a lot of fun, and really the world isn’t all that different elsewhere, but if you feel the urge to do this I completely encourage you to. I’m settled down a bit more now since a lot of this is out of my system and now starting school at 28 (So its NEVER too late, don’t feel pressured by life) Do it now before you have kids and more responsibility! It’s a gypsy experience but once you get going its not hard at all to adjust.
Any questions let me know, I’m always willing to help others out of like mind and aren’t on drug binges.

AKA there is a Family out there of Juggalos whose door is almost always open to their kind. Check out their forum. But if your a fake they’ll know instantly so just be yourself.

plane tickets 4 years ago

This year I’m saving all of my babysitting money. It’s really, really hard since I can’t splurge on new clothes or new CDs on anything, but I hope it will be worth it for what I want that money for. I want to spend it on plane tickets. Want probably isn’t even a strong enough word. Crave is more like it. It’s not that I don’t like Colorado Springs. It’s a completely beautiful place to be, but I think that there’s a better place to be for the graciously given 3-month summer vacation than in front of the TV.
All of the inspiration for this came from whom I guess I should call Great-Big-Grandmommy (yeah, that sound weird to me too lol). In 1926 she and three other women traveled 10,000 miles all over America in a T-model Ford. When I heard about her trip I thought it would be cool to follow in her footsteps and do a little traveling myself. So far I have just enough money in my bank account to buy one round trip ticket! I’m getting closer and closer to my goal of two roundtrip tickets and as soon as i reach that one im going to start saving money for my next trip… I’m thinking of using magellon as my inspiration for that one lol
