Doing the Appalachian Trail in 2010, the Pacific Crest Trail in 2011, and the Continental Divide in 2012. If anyone is interested in doing any of these in the given years hit me up at Razortceps@yahoo.com and title the subject of your email “43 things Hike” so I dont throw it in the trash.
How to hike the Pacific Crest Trail
How I did it: With a whole heaping of good luck, no sickness, no forest fires, great weather (about 3 months sleeping without a tent or shelter).
Lessons & tips: DO NOT GIVE UP. You may get sick, you will get tired, you will get dirty. But if you give up you'll have to repeat that all again to get to the place you left. And be flexible. Setting a restrictive time goal ruined it for friends of mine. So relax and enjoy it.
Resources: Yogi's book, the data book, the email list called PCT-L

Someday I need to set aside 5-6 months, put all my stuff in storage, and tackle this thing. Probably alone, but could be equally enjoyable with a good friend. Though there are few people I can imagine spending so much time with. Better sooner than later, before a career enslaves me.
This is my dream hike (well, this and the JMT). I’m getting in shape for it now; never too soon to start. The hardest thing is going to be getting a group of people to commit to 3 months of wilderness. But when it happens, it’ll be heaven in hiking boots.
