I just finished my first year of college as a Creative Writing major. I want my Ph.D. in Creative Writing! :D
But, I have a question – I feel more inclined to do an M.F.A. rather than an M.A. – and then continue with the Ph.D. from there – so I would do it in sequence as such – B.A., M.F.A., Ph.D. – is this advisable? Has anyone ever taken this specific route?

I earned a BA in Criminal Justice several years ago, and then was employed at a police department. I changed jobs to non-law enforcement work, and at the same time finished an MS last year.
After alot of work and probably more luck than I will admit, I was offered a fully funded opportunity to begin studying as a PhD student in the fall of 2009. I am excited and a little scared.

skijour is finally selling some stuff on eBay that's been cluttering the garag
First things first… I need to spend a bit more time on lit searches and looking at different programs to nail down what I want my program to look like… My challenge right now is to be able to walk into a prospective adviser’s office and sound like I know exactly what I want to do, which I do in a sense, but tailoring that to fit what’s happening in their department and research and funding is another story!

In… maybe 10-15 years. I want to learn to research and discover something for myself (and the society)
Possibly in Computer Science or in related fields.

I am thinking of beginning a PhD program in Public Policy and Administration through Walden University this June. I think a distance learning program may work out better than a traditional program given my current commitments.

Earning a PhD has been a dream of mine for quite a while. My uncle was my inspiration when he earned a Masters in Business. Of course, with the competitive juices that run in the family, it’s only natural that I should try to one up him. Actually, he is the only family member who has completed college.
What to major in? Don’t know yet, though, library sciences or literature seem to be winning over others. I have not even completed an Associate’s Degree, though my first step is to sign up for classes this summer. Already have some credits and want to complete the degree and find where to move onto next, and which universities will accept the transfer credits.

I would like to earn a PhD in community and international development one day and conduct original research in the area of humanitarianism and communication studies…helping people to better understand and communicate important political, social and environmentalist concepts while encouraging and promoting the science and goals of participatory democracy.
