How I did it: I bought reference books & took out books at the library on how to deconstruct/reconstruct T's, rip/sew/slash/revamp T's, & design T business. I took all the notes I could & got a journal to log my progress as well as my design ideas. Got myself all the tools of the trade, as I'm into sewing that's the avenue I went: three sewing machines (a tiny tailor for details/fixes, a dressmaker 2 for single straight seams quickly, &… Read how I did it…

I’m currently pursuing this ideal as a business venture, I’ve bulit a website www.customlookshint.com and I promote it on myspace.com/wholegrindent and my facebook profiles. I’m currently lookin for wholesale blank t-shirts, and others neccesities of starting a t-shirt business.I’ve completed one shirt already :)
Oh. my. god. I just realised, after about 10 years of wanting to make my own shirts but thinking it logistically impossible, that after using photo emulsion on a silk screen you can still re-use the screen! I bought a screen years ago and only used it once, having found the process of cutting out letters from litho paper with a Stanley knife to be waaaaaay too annoying. Holy crap, this makes for interesting proceedings! I see in my future self-made tshirts… Many self-made tshirts…! :D

I make my own T-shirts frequently because the ones that I find in stores are never as good as the ones that I picture in my mind. Thanks to a laser printer/scanner and iron-on transfers, I can turn almost anything into a quality T-shirt. Note: I suggest using the iron-on transfers labeled for dark T-shirts instead of the ones for light, even if you have a light-colored T; the final result is smoother and looks more professional.
