I want to go there, learn the country, meet the people. Learn from them, go wherever I want to see the landscapes. Feel free and be able to truly say I understand life in Kazakhstan.

bpillgrim Making my goals list
I want to go there, learn the country, meet the people. Learn from them, go wherever I want to see the landscapes. Feel free and be able to truly say I understand life in Kazakhstan.
i lived in almaty, kazakhstan for 18 months about 5 years ago (teaching english and mk students) and it was one of the best experiences of my life. i lived with the tien shan mountains as a backdrop, learned both russian and kazakh and snowboarded at chimbulak, took the train up to astana and other cities. it also gave me an opportunity to travel around the region including china and afghanistan!
i went to kazakhstan this summer, and it was the best trip of my life. the culture is wonderful, and people were so nice to me… it would be very helpful to speak at least a little bit of russian. (i am russian) I was in Almaty the whole time i was there. Be sure to go to the mountains during the summer for pictures, and a wonderful view, and during the winter for snowboarding and skiing.
so yes, go go go to kazakhstan.
I think next year after I finish my degree I am going to travel from bulgaria to ukraine, then to russia to kazakhstan and then across china.
A friend and I are planning on visiting an orphanage in Northern Kazakhstan next year, bringing gifts to all the children. It will happen.
