Blood Type A+ 4 weeks ago

well the theory says that type A’s thrive on vegetarian diets, which is good since i already basically do that anyways…
we’re also predisposed to heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. it’s best to get food in as natural a state as possible. meat makes us sluggish, and it’s important to get protein from nuts and seeds.

ok, so foods i’m allowed-
vegetables VITAL to type a diet- artichoke, chicory, greens (dandelion, swiss chard), horseradish, leek, romaine, okra, parsley, alfalfa sprouts, tempeh, tofu, turnip
enhance immune system- garlic, onions, broccoli, carrots, collard greens, kale, pumpkin, spinach
bad for digestive tract- peppers, olives, potatoes, sweet potatoes, yams, cabbage, tomatoes, lima beans, eggplant, mushroom
tofu should be a staple it says, i need to learn to like this
seafood ewww, sorry, can’t do that one
grains whole grains & cereals are good , (amaranth & buckwheat are best), no shredded wheat, grape nuts, or wheat bran
bread & noodles ezekiel & sprouted bread are good, no english muffins, wheat bread, multi grain bread, or flour
beans black, pinto, green are best, also lentils & black-eyed peas
fruit best- berries (blackberries, blueberries, boysenberries, cranberries), plums, prunes, figs
hard to digest- melons, cantaloupe, honeydew
don’t do well with- mangoes, papaya, bananas, coconuts
stomach irritants- oranges and tangerines
good digestive aids- pineapples, cherries, apricots
promote alkaline tendencies- grapefruit & lemon
nuts & seeds peanuts & pumpkin seeds are best, all other nuts are okay except pistachios, brazil nuts, and cashews

i’m sposta avoid the condiments ketchup, mayonnaise, pickles, relish, worcestershire sauce—should be easy except for the ketchup, i don’t think i can give that one up!!

oh, and i’m allowed a cup of coffee a day cuz it will increase my stomach-acid secretions, yayy! :)

foods to avoid for weight loss purpose-
meat i don’t like it anyway
dairy poorly digested by type A, but small amounts of yogurt can be tolerated
kidney beans, lima beans no prob avoiding these :)
wheat interesting

foods that will help with weight loss-
vegetable oil olive and flaxseed are most beneficial, canola is allowed
soy foods luckily i’ve learned to like vanilla soymilk with my cereal and i LOVE edamame!
vegetables need to eat more
pineapple funny :)

I was a vegetarian 2 months ago

I really enjoyed my meatless diet and felt great on it, but when I tried to donate blood my iron was too low.
Then some one recently told me about a booklet that tells you how to eat according to your blood type. I’m excited to look up the info and give it a try!

Still eating at home more... 1 year ago

...AND I am no longer feeling “deprived” for not eating out, I’m feeling happy to eat at home and cook food of my own choosing. We’ve been eating mountains of steamed broccoli, my favorite. When we cook at home we tend to choose healthier foods, and foods that are less “saucy”. We have also drastically reduced the amount of money we’ve spent on eating, and the portion sizes of our homecooked meals are much more reasonable than the monster sized ones at some restaurants.

A start. 1 year ago

I’ve been eating at home a lot more the last month. It’s really making it easier to moniter what we eat and make healthier eating choices. It helps that our new roommate enjoys cooking at home, too. Last night she made a great marinated tofu dish, with rice and steamed brocolli.
