Go on an African Safari

The safari is one part of a three part journey I was supposed to go on when I was 15, but my Pop wouldn’t allow me to go.

My oldest brother was going to take me to India, Egypt and Kenya with him. I want to make the trip someday still.

I visited Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Mozambique in the summer of 2001- for the solar eclipse. Besides that spectacular show, we saw a great deal of wildlife of all kinds. No rhinos though- despite days and days of searching. Sadly, they’re nearly extinct in that area.

Well, I admit to adding this goal to my list after I have already completed it, but it has always been on my mental goal list.

I just recently went on a 5 day camping safari to Serengeti, Ngorongoro, and Tarangire national parks. It was amazing and we had a fantastic time. We saw every kind of animal out there, I think. Got some great pictures, too.

Moving this one to inactive, as it will not be happening for several years and I need room for more short-term goals. Will have this one back on the active goals list in the next few years~

I have soooooo many things going on right now that I am going to push this back to the year 2010 after I finsih my Master’s

The lions!!!!!! I gotta see em! And I know I could just go to the zoo but A) it’s too hot and 2) it is so much better seeing animals run wild with gay abandon.

I want to see the animals in their true habitat, unaltered. Nature is my confirmation that God is real.

I was blessed with the opportunity to go on a 2 week mission trip to Port Edward, South Africa last summer. It was amazing, to say the least. And on our final afternoon there, we got to go on a real safari. It wasn’t deep in the jungle and whatnot, but it was just our car and the open plains of Africa and its wildlife.

Animals I saw: LOTS of Antelope, Giraffes, Zebras, Warthogs (and warthog babies! sooo cute!), rams, exotic birds and such. It was lovely. Everyone needs to experience some part of Africa at least once in their life.

I am working on this with my friend Jean for September.

My friend Jean and I are planning a safari for September…I am not going to waste my life…I am going to live it….
