It occurs to me that the typical tea fare is nossogood for someone who is diabetic. And so I need to find some quick and easy recipes that I can serve for diabetic friends/family so we All can enjoy.
How I did it: Cooked for two days straight and then cleaned for hours. I used these recipes for the cupcakes; the frosting was great, the cupcakes weren't all that great. Maybe I messed it up though...whenever two different flours are involved, I'm doomed. Cucumber sandwiches were just cream cheese, dill, and cucumber sliced with a mandoline, which may make me lose a finger, but I love it.Pasta salad recipe is secret! Ask me. :) Avocado scones were jus… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I had a Victoriana tea party for my 21st, with piles of cakes, tables in the garden, and bunches of flowers on every surface. It is hard work catering for 140 people, but it was totally worth it! Unfortunately the 10 different teas provided were barely touched as it was a 36 degree day and everyone was far too hot... But everyone loved the concept! Read how I did it…
noiire half hopes the summer lasts forever
How I did it: Just a small unbirthday gathering of three. The tea house I planned on having it at is only opened in the morning (make sure you check in advance) and we could only do it in the afternoon, so we ended up having it at my house. The night before I was up super late baking, and in the morning I got hot chocolate, rasberry lemonade, and flowers (I don't like tea, so these are my suggestions if you share my aversion.) We watched alice in wonde… Read how I did it…

Hmm. I’m wondering if a big tea party is the way to go. I’m thinking I would like to have smaller, more frequent, more intimate tea parties. I’m all for intimacy these days, you know? It is inspiring me to finish a special tea party tablecloth I am cross-stitching. Perhaps for the first one, I will just have Kate, Ann, Grandma, and 2 children. So I’ll limit each tea to 6 people. I’ll make a simple sandwhich myself, and just buy other treats to fill in. In taking inventory, I notice I have 3 lovely tea pots and 12 varied sets of tea cups/saucers. Somewhere I must have a creamer and sugar container. And I think I might only need a tea cozy or 2, perhaps with 2 more strainers. Now that simplifies things, makes it manageable, quaint and easily repeatable. Yup. I think that’s what I wanna do alright!
noiire of 43t suggested lemonade. Good idea I have a lavendar lemonade that would work well.
I like this website as a first-time, keep things simple set of instructions.
I just found a lovely tray that was my mom’s to serve the sandwiches and scones from.
Devonshire cream is easy to find here. I’ll check Restaurant Depot to see if I can get small jams. OR, I have 4 small and pretty martini glasses I can put jam in, or find some clever inexpensive serving thing just for that.
Still simmerin …

Kate, her kids, mom, and grandma; Her grandma and my mom go together well. My sis and her daughter. My 2 nieces. Lauren and her mom (who is my mom’s friend), Lauren’s daughter and 2 sisters. Jamie and Heri’s mom. Sharon. Sheri and her daughter. Barb. Donna. Ann. That’s 22 so far. Heri might be the token guy! That’s 23. My place is small. Gotta think more about this. Perhaps they might have to bring their own chair. Oh and me! 24. That makes a dirty 2 dozen!
I need an iPod playlist for tea music. That’ll be fun!
I think I might have to rent some tea pots/cups. I have some, but not enough for 24.
And if I’m really clever, I’ll combine this with my other goal of making balloon animals!

I decided that I didn’t want to take on the Cooking part of a tea party. So I hired my friend who is a caterer. I have some lovely teapots and will find out how to really serve tea well. I’m hoping to time it as a little garden party. My garden is Very small, but I’ll be giving it a cheer-up soon and will celebrate early summer with tea on my deck. I’m looking forward to having my friend’s 4-year old daughter here! It will all come together at just the right time, I’m sure. :)
Stace_face! we’ve done this, but as soon as i get my house, and you get your crib, (with plates on the walls, tellytubbie spreadsheet, bar fridge and funky juice jugs..) we’ll be decking our tea party out with fairy lights, freshly picked flowers, pretty china, mini cupcaks, high-tea dresses and light and fluffy music (eg; 1 2 3 4 tell me that you love me more.. and i do like you.. and kate nash! :D) im really looking forward to it! :)
Kate L is feeling optimistic about her goals.
I’ve been reading Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and it just struck me that it would be really fun to have a very fancy tea party with some girls. Maybe in the spring…everyone can dress up and eat cucumber sandwiches and act like bluebloods. Of course, any sort of theme party can possibly be met with eye rolls and cringing, but I’m willing to try it once.
My friend and I decided we want to rent old costumes and have a tea party on the anniversary of the Boston Tea party just because we’re weird and can do things like that.

My friends throw me a Mad Hatters Tea Party as a suprise party. It was awesome, Alice in Wonderland props all through a park, but i had to put a lot of faith in my friends to allow them to pick my costume!! To have a tea party:
1) Invite friends
2) Find a tea set (check out antique stores and op shops)
3) Add tea
4) Sit back and Enjoy good convo

...with cake made in the new oven, served on necessarily new plates (we only have 3 plates left from the last set…)

I’ve gone a bought a full on tea set, it’s stripy and all the colours of the rainbow. I’m thinking about a tea party in august with a rainbow theme and everyone has to come dressed as a colour.
Ok, it’s not going to be the most refined or sophisticated party, but it’ll be fun. And colourful. and will involve cakes!
