I found friends to go with and I learned how to hit the ball. I’ll be much better when I practice left handed.
How I did it: most driving ranges let you use or rent their clubs. If not then starter sets are available at places like dicks sportin goods for about $200-300 if you want a new set. Used sets are a bargain at yard sales
Lessons & tips: Get out there and swing on the driving range. The people that work there would help you easy

From the first time I attempted to hit a ball in a lesson, I knew this was something I could do for a long time and all the time! I went on the course (9 hole) for the first time in October, then again in December and now I play every week – first time on the course 3 hours! Now 1.5 hours…. so much fun!
That I can play at least twice a week my favourite game of golf.
I went golfing on an actual golf course (as opposed to a driving range) for the first time yesterday. We only played 9 holes but I was really tired by the end (no cart). After shooting a 76 (just 9 holes mind you), I have a whole new level of respect for those pro golfers who are consistently good.
Just the other day my friend took me to the driving range(?)...a place where you can practice your swings in golf. It was my first time swinging at a golf ball. It was weird at first but I got used to it quite easily. It was fun.
Even when I’m playing badly, which is most of the time, I love this game. I love that there are no phones or blackberries. I love that it’s outside. I love that it’s never the same each time (which is like twice a week).
Golf is a great sport where you can learn many lessons that you learn in other aspects of your life as well. It’s one of the most difficult, yet rewarding things I’ve done.
It’s amazing how it will only take one shot (out of 100 or however many) to bring you back again.
