Compete in the Toastmasters International Speech Contest and Progress Further than Division Level

Since I was a district officer, the first contest for which I am eligible is in August – Humorous speaking, and Table Topics. I already have some speech topics rolling around in my head.

Prepping for the Division Contest on Monday. Wish me luck!

This year I won the club and area contest. I went overtime in the division contest, so I was disqualified.

For next year I will dig deeper into following the advice of former world champions of speaking Jim Key and David Brooks from their cd’s.

I have competed in both the International Speech Contest (held in the Spring) and the Humorous Speech Contest (held in the fall) for several years now. And made it to the Division level (the third step) almost every time. I’ve worked hard on my speeches and done well, but I haven’t been satisfied with the results. There are areas where I know I can do better, and areas - i.e. the judging - which I know are out of my control. But this year I want to do everthing I can to get past the Division Level.
