joie de vivre is feeling better
Elected Jo and Abby; Nolan if he’d like to join; and John R. Priti is probably not going to go through with it. Janet – we’ll see in January.
How I did it: I got the board to adopt a board development plan. I don't think any of them used it, but it at least gave me a framework to do recruiting on my own.
Then, I sent email to our existing volunteer and former volunteer pool.
I also asked people who were professionally or personally connected to our agency, through Chamber meetings, church events, and the like.

She is 60, runs a successful business in the community. So successful, she doesn’t have to tend to its daily operations any more.
I met her at a Chamber meeting, and she said she wanted to do something more, in the community. She’s a regular donor to our organization; we used to serve her mother. She said she had a soft spot in her heart for the elderly.
She said she’d consider board membership after the holidays.

She stopped by our office one time to promote her services – she helps relocate elderly people from their homes into assisted living facilities and adult family homes. She lives in our community. I had her business card lying around, and I got the idea to invite her.
We need someone who really understands the challenges our clients face – I think she’d be a good board member.

Per the email I sent out to former board members and volunteers, got someone interested in joining the board – her name is Jo. I invited her to the next board meeting.

We have a new potential client. I found out that she has been getting some help from time to time from her neighbor Donald. I’ve now contacted Donald about her situation, and am waiting to hear back.
Brief google search shows that Donald is a member of the local country club – implies he has the resources and connections to be a good board member.
Well dang. So very curious to see if this plays out.
