reconnect with my sister

i would like to think that someday my sister and i will be as close as we were before, but it’s been hard to stay in touch with nearly 3,000 miles and 3 hours between us, and i miss her.

I took a trip home in March to see my family. Our mom I stayed at my sister’s apt. the night before my plane ride back to Japan. We stayed up late drinking milkshakes and watching one of our favorite movies from childhood. She’s expecting, so Mom I crocheted baby blankets while we talked. I had only spoken to her once or twice by phone in the past 7 months. I can hardly beleive that I nearly cancelled this trip. I’m so glad that I went.

yesterday i got my sister’s number. maybe tomorrow i’ll call…

amazing how simple it can be to lose touch with a person who shares so much of your history. it’s like, the longer you let time go by, the harder it is to reconnect.
