December 1st of 2007, I was cleaning brush off my property. I was in the process of lighting a large fire, and did the normal stuff I’d done many times before, poured the gas on the dry wood move to a safe distance and throw in a lit torch. Except when I poured the gas onto the fire, when I turned I could hear a pop, and I looked down and I was covered with fire. Something ignited the gas (I’m thinking there was a smoldering fire from the previous week) and it blew up all over me. I ran a few feet, and dropped and rolled which put out the fire. My wife took me to the hospital where they transferred me to Brook Army Medical Center (Great hospital). I had burns up my arm and on half of my face.
Was the sensation of being on fire worth the pain, Heck no! I would never do anything like this ever again.
