support a family member battling cancer

I didn’t have a choice about my Father’s Cancer, but I did have a choice about how our end time was spent. It’s over now, and I know I did the right thing.

is now the battle is over…. and unfortunately the cancer won. My dad gave one hell of a fight though.

Being there to care for her was not only a gift to her but a gift to me…it was a chance to give back to her a small amount of the care that she gave me.

and yet the easiest decision to make. No choice about whether you’re going to go through as much as possible with them.

My wife started treatment this week for anal cancer. I provided more details on my main blog. The goal I want to articulate here is to be as supportive as possible, finding the right balance between acknowledging her grief and my grief, while maintaining my strength and hope - and health - so as to be a pillar for her as she proceeds through the chemotherapy and radiation … and contends with uncertainty, pain and loss. I want to be strong yet vulnerable, let my feelings flow, let them go, and rise to meet the challenges before us.
