I always say that everyone should have to work in retail and work in a restaurant at some time in their life. I was a waitress for almost 3 years and that job really teaches you something about how to deal with other people. Working for just $2.50 an hour and being gratious because you are depending on “gratuities” from your customers no matter how rude, offensive, overly friendly or demanding they are for your livelihood gives you a good lesson in tolerance and interpersonal relationships. DO IT, I recommend it to all. Its different than some other places because each person involved is dependent on each other to a certain level.
Yeah, I worked at a all natural vegan restaurant for a while last summer in K.C. and it was an absolute blast. I loved it.
So I’d like to open a restaurant or work in one and put to practice the things I like about restaurant service, and stamp out the things I dislike.
No more “you guys” and absolutely no “do you need change?” from the servers.
I’m a service-oriented person and if the restaurant was the right type, I can see myself liking the work more than anything else I’ve done.
