overcome my fear of butterflies

i dont think i was always afraid of butterflies, i can remeber catching them when i was really small, but every year my fear gets worse and worse! and it has now got to the point where my boyfriend has to walk me to work! winter is GREAT! no butterflies, but i love the summer, and i want to get over this stupid fear once and for all, so im going to get hypnosis. i really didnt think any one was afraid of them but me!
i also really need to get over this by christmas as im visiting my boyfriends family in brazil, and brazil means big butterflies! aaaaah

when i was just 5 years old i remember my parents taking me to go see the monarch butterflies that flew to minnesota every year. since the neighborhood park was just down the road from where we used to live, we decided to go see the flying things. when i stepped into the park, i realized that every tree there was covered in orange flapping butterflies, to my curosity i touched the tree and they all came flying out on me. at the time i thought hey were attacking me, and i never lived it down! every year something to do with butterflies always come up, from the time my best friend chased me with one and i ended up breaking her moms lamp, to the time my boyfriend ran me down the road with one….everyone knows that i am terrified of them, and i always will be sadly no matter how hard i try :( but its good to know that i am not the only crazy one out there! maybe one day ill see someone else screaming and running like hell when they see a butterfly

My friends and family thought i was extreamly wierd for having a fear of butterflys. I thought i was the only one, but it turns out im not! Ever since i can remember i have been scared of them. I remember when i was about 11, i went with my 5th grade class to this butterfly exibit in seattle, washington. Everyone new i was terrified but they insisted i go in with them. The whole agonizing hour that i was in that exhibit from hell, i was ducking running and looking over my shoulder. everuone thought it was funny but i really felt like i was going to die. I still have my fear i wonder if i will ever get over it. but its good to know im not alone.

I’ve had a fear of butterflies ever since i was al ittle girl. i Cant stand the sight of them wether it be in photos, drawings, oragami[yes someone thought it would be funny], and of course the actual thing.. I have a few horror stories. ONe was with a book. I was taking a childrens literature course in highschool whne the teacher was showing us and example of a BIG BOOK and how to read it to childrean ..she took the book out of the bag and i just lost it i completely forgot where i was and had a panic attack. which isnt good forme because i have asthma..but in a nutchell… i have to go to the nurve and take medication and be taken home because i just couldnt be there anymore… :X

I find it kind of sad becuase i really want to get over this but just cant seem to do so I cant look at anything

If someone has gotten over it.. please tell me how .

We can use it as shock therapy (cowers in fear)

I have only met one other person who shares it (my cousin) and I read somewhere that Nicole Kidman is a fellow lepidopterophobe. People just don’t get it. Plus they think I’m faking because I’m not afraid of drawings of butterflies. THEY’RE NOT REAL!! Why would I be scared of a drawing?? It’s the real ones that are evil and scary!

One time a big black butterfly of death touched my ARM!! It fluttered against my arm!! I completely fugued into blackness and lost control for a few seconds, when I regained control of my senses I had moved and covered myself with a blanket and was screaming, yet I can’t remember ever moving or anything. I’ll look for a picture of the butterfly I’m referring to and post it. They’re big and black and we have them in Mexico and they get into your bedroom and they’re the worst ever. Worst. EVER!

Anywho, I think I’m only adding this to feel like there are others out there like me, but to be honest, I don’t think I’ll be able to conquer my fear. They’re just too scary ;_;

I’ve also found that Butterflies taste great on Bananas! You should try them!

With Spring in the air (ok, not really there yet, just hopeful) I think I can mark this off as done. I am beginning to like butterflies again, and come to think of it, with some garlic and butter, they kinda taste like grasshoppers! And everyone knows I love Grasshopper scampi!

I grew up in a poor neighborhood in Harlem. We had small cockroaches, but we’d keep them as pets. One time I had a cockroach on my girlfriends ass… she wasn’t amused. She grabbed her giant stuffed butterfly and killed Jerry! I couldn’t believe it! With no afterthought for my feelings, she just squished him! He was my life partner! She was my sex toy! The bitch!
So ever since then, I have had an irrational fear of giant stuffed butterflies. I hate the bastards… even the little ones. I have nightmares of Mothra sized butterflies coming into my room while I’m naked… but that’s another fear.. never mind that one. Sometimes, when I’m alone, I touch the picture I have of Jerry, wanting for the good ole days when he and I would go to the zoo and hunt for Monkey poo. He loved it so much, it really made his shell shine. And that Whore took him from me! Die Bitch! DIE!!!!

Come to think about it, I really might wanna consider therapy.....

One good thing about winter is the lack of butterflies. I can now go near bright flowers without the fear of being fluttered at. phew!
