I put a “make me move” price on my house at zillow. I have no actual belief that anyone in their right mind would make that kind of offer, it’s 25K more than the house is valued at, it’s what I would need to be in the black on the mortgage. But it feels like I put myself out there and announced my intention to the universe.
How to move to Portland
How I did it: I grew up in a small town... Very small, and about 2 hours away from Portland. I met my bf online, and he lived here. Eventually I just officially moved in with him. Not that I'm recommending getting a bf in PDX to move here.... Hmm.
My brother is currently working on moving here. We have discovered the best steps are (in this order)(at least for a non-rich, renting 18 year old) job THEN house. It never works the other way unless you have enough cash saved up to pay a lease, in full, up front.
Lessons & tips: CraigsList is a HUGE! We found our current house, our car, and lots of other things there. I had a job for awhile that was posted on there.

Still undecided. Hope for a trial run sometime in late November. Sheesh, almost a year later.
An invitation has been extended. I’m not feeling much trust in the situation. It’s not going to be rushed.
I’m wondering if this will ever happen. I want to go soooo bad! Now would be a great time of year to go, except the “having no money” thing holding me back. I think I’m going to fix up my car, get some new tires, and maybe just go up there in a few months. Pack everything I can in the car and just go. I wish I could come into some mula in the next couple of months. You hear that universe?

That’s right, just six days until we move. We’ve spent a lot of today packing stuff. I don’t have a lot of things, so most of it’s packed, but my roommate has waay more. We’ve even gone through it. I hope she becomes more willing to let go of needless things as time goes on, but she hasn’t really moved before. She’ll get better with it. There’ve been some hang-ups on the moving truck (apparently I can’t drive it since I’m under 21, which is B.S.), but I’m sure we’ll work a way around it. I’m not above lying about my age either, haha. Tragedies.
Lots of family gatherings, workplace goodbyes and old friends getting in touch… it’s sad moving to a new place, but I’m willing to leave it all behind. Bring it on, Portland!

My roommate made the personal decision of moving a whole month earlier—since she’s the one who’s going to school, it was something she was in control of. I’m coming with, of course, and with no complaints, but it was a very recent development. Our moving date is now June 27th! I’m excited and nervous at the same time. Excited to move, but… nervous about preparing for it a whole month earlier.
Mainly I’m concerned about this room! Her things are everywhere still. We’ve made some headway on it, but not nearly as much as we need to. We’re going to have to get it done soon so we can focus on more important things. We have a lot of people willing to help us, but they can’t help us if the room is a war zone a week before the move.

Plans have changed. This won’t be happening in the way I wanted or thought it would. Now I have 3 options
1. Give up
2. Change the way I plan to do this
3. Continue to persue the old plan on a modified timeline, with the goal date of “maybe sometime in the future maybe”

I will move there it is just a matter of time; put in for a transfer and hopefully when spring rolls around I will be rolling up there.
