It’s funny – the more I read, the more I understand. Classical Chinese is sorta like making one of those woven friendship bracelets. There’s a knack to it. If you’re careful and allow everything to fall into place, then it’s beautiful. If you can’t keep your knots (or characters) straight, then it’s a mess. The more characters I know, the better I can understand what’s going on. Now I need to study some chengyu.
More specifically, I want to learn (and have started studying) the following: Four Books (Great Learning, Doctrine of the Mean, Analects of Confucius, Mencius), Tao Te Ching, Zhuang Zi, Mozi, Han Feizi, I Ching, Sun Tzu’s Art of War, Sun Bin’s Art of War, Six Strategies, The Literary Mind and the Carving of Dragons, Gems of Classical Prose
