Style revelations 2 months ago

well after lots of style and soul searching apparently what i needed was to go shopping with someone i dont normally go with! I bought a beret the other day to go with my new hair and it has entirely opened a floodgate for more berets, scarves, belts, coloured tights and all sorts of things! Im not there yet but trying different things, which is half the battle.

Ok well ive been ripping my fav pieces out of magazines for awhile now and there are some v strong trends in what catches my eye. I like clothes that are femiene and sexy, sleek and fairly structured. I like the elegant, luxuary look with a little bit of a quirk and a little bit preppy. I like outfits that look very pulled together, but effortless. I love cute dresses, for day or night, long coats, fitted jeans with shirts, oversized slouchy jumpers, quirky shoes and boots, corporate trousers etc.

I have also been paying attention to compliments I recieve, ones that give specifics, not just like “you look nice” but “you look like…..” “I really like…....”
I get told ppl like my eyes, my freckles and my dark hair, so these are all attributes to play up. I also get told a lot that I look like a doll (lol) but this is good i suppose as doll like looks should work with a feminine, elegant, preppy, sexy thing!
I also get complimented on the days i take a bit of time to put my outfits together rather then jst throw any old thing on, particularly wen wearing fairly simple pieces with one vintage twist or something

Figuring it out slowly 4 months ago

I know that I want to look kind of edgy, but with a vintage twist. Or, rather, a vintage look with an edge to it. Not an easy task. . . One thing I have working for me is that I do know my body type-I’m an hourglass, which is kind of a double edged sword. On one hand, my body looks pretty good in in structured clothing that has darts and nipped-in waists; but, the best clothes can be expensive, and what’s readily available can make you look either too provocative or overweight, dowdy, or just not shapely at all.

I love the Gene dolls-this is one of the companion dolls, Violet. I think she is kind of what I want to look-like clothes-wise (my hair and makeup would have to be different.) The color combo is gorgeous, and her body looks like mine. I would want to look like this-shapely, but not too provocative. I’m going to continue to find pics that mirror the style I would most like to make my own.

As well i have been looking at the net about dressing rite for ur type etc, but i dont seem to fit any of the body types!!!
I have a small bust, nipped in waist,a not quite flat (:P) tummy, narrow hips, but what my friends like to call a bubble bum (think kylie)and skinny legs. so im def not an apple or an hour glass (bust is too small), but im too defined in the waist and curvy in the bum to be a column, and i have slim hips and thighs so im not a pear either

Im a body type FREAK!!!
Grrr frustration,
I need someone to tell me what i am! or to invent a new category

I thought I knew this one... 7 months ago

however, the more I know about myself, the more I shop, the more I look at how I am growing, changing, and shapeshifting into a better Angela, I realize that I don’t really know anymore what my style is. So, I’m on a mission….to find my now-elusive “style”.

This goal helping 8 months ago

I took my teenage daughter shopping yesterday afternoon. My tendency is to browse the stores when I do this. It is easy to get tempted into buying things this way.

As my first entry under this goal stated, my natural inclination is to buy things that are a bargain – “is it a good deal?” is usually the first question I ask myself.

This time, the first question was, “is it my style?” In other words, does it fit the style and color guidelines I’ve set up for myself here. This eliminated over 95% of what was on offer. Then, after applying “is it ugly?”, well, there was nothing left to purchase.
