More "How I Did It" stories
How I did it: I was in a computer course in middle school. All the teacher did was set each student up with a typing program, so he didn't actually do any of the teaching himself. If you have young children, you should most definitely invest in a similar typing program so they can learn how to type properly at a young age. It took me maybe a few months to learn and it's second nature to me now! Read how I did it…

How I did it: At my school we can learn keyboarding as a elective. It was alot of work but so much fun! It was difficult at first but then it got easier. I can type without looking at my fingers and I can type pretty fast. Read how I did it…

I can type fairly fast, but I never mastered proper touch typing. I’m sure it would make coding at lot faster, so i need to find a free online tool that helps me do this.

Not worth to TOTALLY learn. I just learned the basics of the letters (middle and top row of letters) and just went with that. I look but I can kinda type without looking for a short period of time.

so, of course I still touch type and who really cares, at least I type! But I took a course in typing in school this year and it has helped me. I can type way faster and with both hands and most fingers!! lol
birdforbeans is learning to be a rubber ball.
It was the most boring class ever (8th grade), so I got all my assignments for the week done on monday, and spent the rest of the week shooting rubberbands and doodling, but in result… I am a FAST typer, which has made writing so much easier over the years. Eventually it was easier to use the computer and just write papers straight out instead of trying to edit them on paper. I would low-ball and say I type 70 wpm, but that’s just b/c if I am reading something and typing, I’m slower than if I’m just typing out of my head.
It wouldn’t hurt me to work on memory and reading comprehension so I can be an all around faster typer.
how to type when doing a big project in grade 5. I then typed a lot for my stories. This was touch typing, using my pointer fingers, and I typed VERY fast doing this. I learned how to type using ‘home row’ in grade 9 and now I can type faster than before. I usually type slower than I am able to as I want to catch mistakes as I go along.
I work in publishing, I type probably about 60-80 WPM, but I don’t use the right keys. I feel a slight pang of guilt about this when my desk is situated near someone who is a very fast “proper” typist, but all other times I manage to get by just fine.
Everything worth doing is worth doing well, yes.
Correctly? I like to think so.
We’ll see though. I have written countless term papers, research papers, public notices, classified ads, poems, stories, letters, emails, discussion board posts, blogs, essays and notes to neighbors, all without the skill of typing properly. But one should learn, right?

Well, I started taking a typing program. It’s not the most exciting thing ever but it works. So, let’s see how this goes!
