Goals are supposed to be specific and attainable, right? 5 months ago

I would like to eat only one serving of red meat (which I will define for my purposes as any meat other than chicken, turkey, fish, or seafood) every week, to start. Whenever I eat a serving, I will mark the soonest day I could have another serving on my calendar. Once I get comfortable with this, probably within a month or two, I will make my goal to only eat one serving every two weeks then one serving every month which I consider an acceptable amount.

Not so good 11 months ago

So I realized how poorly I was doing at this goal when I actually wrote down what I was eating each day. I thought I was doing extremely well… until I wrote it all out. I have only gone two days completely red meat free. Here it is, for posterity:

Sun 4 —NOTHING! A++
Mon 5 —1 pc bacon, meatballs (on spaghetti)
Tue 6 —pepperoni, sausage (on pizza)
Wed 7 —bacon (on sandwich), hot dog
Thu 8 —NOTHING! A++
Fri 9 —meat sauce (in spaghetti)
Sat 10—sausage (on pizza)
Sun 11—2 spare ribs, cheeseburger
Mon 12—2 pc bacon, meat sauce (in spaghetti)
Tue 13—meat sauce (in lasagna), hot dog, meat sauce (in spaghetti)
Wed 14—NOTHING! A++

Every damn day almost!!! not doing too well, you are going to have to tighten this up if you’re going to do it for real!

Earth Day, '00 3 years ago

At an Earth Day festival six years ago, I learned about the amazingly horrible efficiency of raising meat, especially beef, along with its health deficits.

I haven’t had a burger since then.

i was doing great 3 years ago

I was doing great for a long time on this. I’d had only a few bites of red meat for the past 2 weeks, but today… my dad grilled up 8 hamburgers and I ate 2 in one sitting. :( oh well

Save the cows 3 years ago

Over the past 2 years I’ve replaced meals with red meat at home with chicken, fish, and more vegetables. I still eat red meat occasionally when I eat out, but I think my diet has improved.

Although pork is a “white meat”, I’ve reduced my intake of this too. I’m not a dietician but pork doesn’t seem any more healthy than beef.

Yeah.. 4 years ago

I realized that for the past 5 months or so I have eaten mostly chicken.. Very little red meat.. I used to eat 3 or 4 burgers a week, now I have none, maybe one per month..

I’m not sure if I feel any better really?
