How to wake up on time
How I did it: I have three alarms on my cell phone and I set them at 5 minute intervals. I have another alarm clock that isn't as loud but on days when I'm not too tired it will wake me up. I keep a third alarm clock on my dresser across the room. This alarm is the loudest so it is set to go off last. Just in case my phone and the other alarm clock fail. It is nearly full proof.
Lessons & tips:
- Be mature and go to sleep early.
- Keep an alarm across the room so you have to get up and turn it off.
- After you turn off the alarm, do some stretches get some circulation in those veins.

Even if I set the alarm far away from my bed, I will either:
A) Sleep through it.
B) Get up, turn it off, and go back to bed.
C) Not set it.
B would probably be the most common, since I do that anyways.. :/ I can’t seem to get up when I don’t have a really good reason to (No job/not in school yet/don’t live with the boyfriend) so I end up giving myself as much sleep time as I want. I would love to wake up in the morning again, it’s so refreshing.

For the past week, waking up in the morning has been very difficult. I had been sleeping alot. Then, two days ago, I developed a “cold.” I just feel run-down. Sometimes I forget that my body can take care of itself if I let it. So, I’m not going to push it or beat up on myself for waking up late.

I learned something that is helping me a little. I read that we have 90 minute sleep cycles. If I need to get up at 6:30, I make sure I’m getting to sleep by 11:00. I set my alarm for the approximate end of a sleep cycle. I find that I’m not awakened out of a deep sleep…and I’m less groggy.

I have GOT to find some motivation to get up in the morning. I just want to sleep! Ok, I’m going to bed now…

Waking up in the morning for work is very hard for me. I know it’s an avoidance strategy. There are some things I just don’t want to do at work, and that’s when I oversleep. Going to bed late doesn’t help either. I am naturally a night person. I am most productive between 11:00am and 10:00pm. But that doesn’t help when you work in elementary schools!
I’m a night person and I’m not sure, if it is really necessary for me to accomplish this goal. When I have my own business, I can work at night whenever I want and I need to get up before 9.00 a.m. only once or twice a week…

I’m almost there. I’ve been reducing my stress and getting to sleep on time. Next step is to finish a couple of major projects that are still haunting me and making sleep difficult (and making it difficult to willingly face the day).
I have to stop getting up a half-hour late, its so annoying having to rush. I have to carry this onto the weekend too, to make sure my bodyclock remembers it for Monday.
