How I did it: I decided that I wanted a cake with fondant for my 28th birthday. So I bought everything I would need, did some research and then got to it! Being in Japan I wanted a Cherry Blossom themed cake. I wanted white and pink, but my fondant ended up too yellow for what I wanted, so I went for pink and purple. The purple looks a little more gray than purple, but I still love it! I am having a few friends come over after my husband gets home from work to help us eat it since it is HUGE!

So my birthday is the 24th, and since we are so far from home and my husband is not much for baking, I will be making my own cake this year. I am going to do a fondant icing on this cake. Not sure if it will turn out or not, but I figure it is worth a shot. Even if it is ugly, so long as it is edible then I guess we’ll be eating it! I’m really excited to try, but nervous about how it will taste…..

That babyshower cake in the previous entry never happened however when my niece requested a Hannah Montana guitar cake I knew the time had come.
I had a couple of problems getting the fondant onto the cake but other than that it was a great experience. It helped that I made all the components over a three day period. I was only 45 minutes late to the party! ;)

Maybe I’ll experiment a bit before hand. I should schedule it on my calendar to make sure the experimentation gets done way before the cake is due.
