The Book came.

I am going to read a bit before bed because the temps are supposed to go up to 20 tomorrow. I have a lot of pre-Christmas errands to run, but am hoping to sneak in a practice.
Everything is better with book. It is called, “A Get Out & Do It! Guide.” Mebbe I can get out & do it without falling this time. :D

I then practiced a bit in Mom’s front yard to make sure I had everything adjusted. Chunk & Mom watched from the bay window. As soon as I was sure that I had things adjusted, we loaded Chunk up into his sled. A trip to the park & I made it half way around before falling.
I naturally chose the path abutting Main Street that I fell. I became the drive home entertainment. It didn’t really bother me – but I figured it was time to stop before I hurt myself. It wasn’t bad for a first time. I had fun! Chunk thought I was HILARIOUS!

I am hiking around the park dragging a sled full of baby. I think it is is time to up the level and learn how to snowshoe. I don’t anticipate hikes in the woods, just mucking around in the yard and park.
I ordered a book on basic snowshoeing last night & intend to buy a set of shoes & collapsible poles in the next couple days. This is purely recreational & just trying something new. My bad knee has always kept me from trying downhill skiing and snowboarding. I played around with my kids cross country skis but never outfitted myself. The snowshoes look the most appealing at this time. Small, easy and low cost investment.

I got out several times this year, always a workout, but well worth it. I talked my parents into getting each other snowshoes for Christmass and they have been out too.

The mountain was so beautiful! I got to see a lot more of it than when I was skiing on that mountain. More snowball fights too. =)
Plus I got much more of a work out.
Definatly, definatly, definatly going to go snowshoeing again.

He’s a bear, and 30 years older than me. I got to get up there and battle through the mountains with him. Of course, this will require cold weather gear, which I don’t at present have…(LA having made me soft)...

Its 16 deg, but it not snowing yet. I didn’t get out last year. If I don’t get the snow around home this year, I need to head to the north until I find it!
