I’ve been building a good base mileage. I’m working up to 40 miles a week. Just ran a trial 5k to get an idea of where I’m at 2 weeks ago—ran a 21:26 and felt like I had some left over.

MJZ82 trying to get back on track
My fastest 5K was 20:09 but that was nearly 10 years ago. Right now I am jumping rope/hibernating for winter and will begin training as soon as the snow and cold recede.
Not quite sub-20 yet. My last 5k was a 21:40, which I am pretty happy with. I’m really staring to get into a groove with my running, and conquering the sort of “mental blocks” that have been holding me back some. I’m hoping that with another month of training and racing left in the season I can get a solid 19:59! Hahah.
I want to break 20 this cross country season coming up. My best last season was 22:13. I’m in much better shape now from indoor and outdoor track… running consistently all year helps hahah. I have a 5k coming up this Friday, but I don’t think I’m there yet. By October or November I hope to do this! I want to break 20 so bad!!
After a good month of training I was able to break 20 minutes in a race. I ran 19:25 at the Harvet Hustle 5k, finishing 9th place overall. I was still holding back a bit, I’m afraid of tearing a tendon again. I think I am getting close to being back in shape. No injuries for over 2 months and I am able to get consistent workouts in, about 25 miles per week. Next race is in January. Hopefully I can break 19.
I have done several 5ks in 20min but not enough to dip into the 19s. I am running 24-26 miles per week. Could this not be enough milage?
I do speed work but not consistently…
Love to Run, run to love
Hard to Run, run too hard
so. worth it. did it last racing season, 19-34, amazing feeling. haven’t had enough races this season to do it yet, but hopefully it will come. train like mad for months on end and it will come is my philosophy. yeah so good luck everyone!
ps. find a FLAT course. seriously. it helps a lot.
