I was looking forward to marking this goal as done, then I realised I must have deleted it a long time ago because I decided it was superficial. Oh well.
I’ve finally banished my awkward face! (Not ready to post the evidence just yet, though.)

Yea, usually I can take pretty good pictures but it seems like every time we are out and someone takes a quick pic I am always doing the most awkward things and the pictures look horrible. I’m not sure if this is just the fact that I think I am goofy looking or maybe I just have bad luck but like 1 of 5 pictures I actually noticed that a picture was being taken and of those I only like 1 of 3. Maybe I’m just too critical of myself.
I was separated from my husband and wanted to give things one more good college try. We were both living in the southern U.S. at the time. If the marriage failed, I wanted to know I had done everything possible to save it. So I decided to find out more about him by visiting his family in Peru. I went there about two weeks after the 9/11 tragedy. For me, it was a brave move. I never thought I would have the guts to travel alone to a country I didn’t know. I wasn’t going to let fear about terrorists or security stop me. Well, the marriage ended up not lasting too much longer, but I did get to meet some really nice people in Peru and have the trip of a lifetime. And I also gained confidence in myself.
I still find myself hiding from cameras in social situations… I worry about looking awkward mostly, which obviously perpetuates the cycle.
Any tips?
Vicky is determined to stay on here this time :)
She always looks nice in photos. Me n Vicky n Loren are really jealous :P. It’s well annoying :P.
crap. i mean i take like 200 pics. and only 2 turn out good. then the next day i realise i dont even like them. its really hard, because my friends are ALWAYS taking pictures. grr
I’d love to look at a photograph of myself and think ‘wow, I look good’. It hasn’t happened to date and I’m 33 now, I think it’s about time the swan emerged :D
The one on my profie isn’t as cringeworthy as most of the ones of me, but then it was taken at a distance!
I usually feel self conscious and brave a forced smile. If anyone has any tips to give me they would be grately appreciated.
It makes me sick how it’s so easy for some people. It makes me feel like a shitty person.
