There’s a group dedicated to slam/spoken word poetry at my College, and I think it’d be so cool to join that. Now that I’m almost done with my freshman year, I’m sort of re-evaluating my activities. I want to make sure that the things I devote my time to are a) things that I enjoy and b) things that help me develop skills that are important to me. Since I’d like to be a writer, it makes sense to get more involved with writing sorts of things.

I’ve also become pretty disenchanted with the jazz group I’m in; I hate improvising and think it will only be worthwhile to continue with this group if I put in the time and get sax lessons to learn to solo. But I’m just not willing to put in that kind of time. I’ll miss playing sax, but maybe I’ll take piano lessons instead to fill the music void. 2 years ago
