It’s starting to interfere with my schoolwork too, which is a very bad sign. LESS TYPING MORE WORKING.
I really feel like this has become a problem. A lot of times I think “oh, I have nothing to do” and so I just mindlessly go on the internet, but the truth is I’m just deceiving myself and procrastinating. I slack off on my responsibilities…stay up way way too late, which in itself causes a whole new set of problems (like, it makes me more tired, more lazy, to follow up on the responsibilities that I’m ALREADY slacking off on)
I just don’t know how to start…one thing that has worked is that i just keep my computer shut off, that way, I’m less compelled to sit down because there’s that extra step to take. and if i really need to be using the computer, I can just turn it on.
Internet is escape for me, and I need to be present. I need to spend less time on the internet and more time interacting with my family, more time on school work and housework, and more time socializing with IRL friends. Hard habit to break though, and look where I am right now…
LeechBlock is a Firefox extension that lets you choose which sites to block and when – during specified times and/or after a certain time limit. I’m going to try it out, see if i can kick my online shopping habit. So many better things i could be doing…
BlackEyedEma loves autumn.
Since I haven’t done my goal in time that I set by challenge, I am not allowed to go to internet for two weeks…
I read on a blog somewhere the idea to use only battery power on the weekends; when the battery is finished, no more using the computer until Monday. I thought it sounded like a good idea. I could take my charger to work on Thursday and leave it there until Monday. The problem is my weekends are pretty long. 9pm Thursday to 7pm Monday. During the week I’m pretty busy, so I think it’s a little extreme, and wouldn’t leave me with enough time to get done the things that I really do want to do online.
This has just happened as I’ve busied myself and become generally bored with the internet, which is good ‘cause I don’t just bum around and spent unessecary lengths of time on here. :)
I’m not as bad as I used to be, but I could spend my time more wisely for sure.
