shampoo the carpet

this afternoon. Just want to give it another vacuum before I leave to pick up my little one this afternoon.

I’m moving apartments at the end of the month and thus am now obligated to have the carpet professionally steam-cleaned, which I think is close enough to shampooing to satisfy the goal. So as the appointment is made and it’s going to be done, I’m marking this done!

I have always waited for my husband to do this bc the carpet shampooer is his. Well I finally just got it out of the closet & took the time to figure it out myself. It was really easy & fortunately we only have carpet in our small living room. I bought special Bissell allergen carpet cleaner. The carpet was wet afterwards but smelled wonderful!! Well worth it bc we have an 8 month old crawling all over the place. I would like to steam clean monthly. The real satisfaction was seeing the dirty water I dumped out of it!!!

Well, I haven’t done the whole carpet yet, but I did scrub the heck out of the bathroom mat (which was looking depressingly dirty and vacuuming made no dint). It’s all like new again! Yay!

It was so much work to move all of the furniture around, and I had to do everything by myself. The carpet steam cleaner didn’t really clean the carpet, and left the carpet wet in some spots that when I moved furniture back into place it actually made more stains on the carpet.

AAAH! What an annoying experience! I hope that I never have to do this again.

I threw out the rug by the door in the summer with intentions of buying a new one before the winter came along. I never got around to it so I had all these salt stains by the door. A friend of mine lent me her carpet steamer to clean them up. I was very excited about it and set out to take care of this first things this morning. The salt stains are gone, but it was only once I was just about finished that I noticed these other black spots on teh carpet. I thought it was water drips adn I tried to suck them up, well it looks like her the motor from ther steamer leaks oil. They did not come up. Now I have oil stains on the carpet. I am not happy. I don’t know how to get that up.

I did manage to get this done before the inlaws showed up (earlier than planned, too!).

Note to self: Do this more often!
