We went to the Casino and I made 53 bucks. Lol. Not much but it was my 1st time. Next time I’ll make more I’m sure. Hehe.
Oh how very exciting, today is San Juan, which is celebrated with fireworks and plenty of booze (so I hear) at the beach in lovely Spain.
This Thursday I am playing photographer for my graduating class (first official gig for myself) and on Friday Shakir and I wanted to drop into the massive 1 weeks Psychabilly Festival at Pinida del Mar.
Also my boy has good news, a new job with a very generous boss who wants him to come and visit for a week in France. We get to stay in one of his lovely gites… Well, Shakir is going to work and my camera will have a field day.
Oh joy.
Exciting things coming up :)
I have been having an interesting time in Barcelona. – Nearly long enough here to take it for granted… YOU’LD THINK! Guess who got her second ever sunburn last Friday.
I look like a over grilled shrimp, but in fact it is more than fascinating to me to peel like a German potato.
While I have been here Shakir and I romanced in Rome (my very first time in Italy) and I had the opportunity to grab my favorite French guy Alan from class, plus our Russian power-football girl and wander off to Marseilles for the day. WHAT A DAY!
At the moment I am cooling the whole travel business – these small plane companies have some serious ideas of holiday prices! WOW. I suppose this calls for a road trip through Espana. Let’s hope we get the money together.
My Spanish is horrible, but I got myself a little cheer-up “Man’s Health” to learn a couple of words from. Lots of improvements and changes.
By September I should be back in Australia! This time it will be Perth. I will get to meet my boys family and friends… Till then I will practice to rival them with my home-grown (rahter German) Aussi accent. :)
Wish me luck ;)
try to not be afraid of living my life to the fullest no matter what. In the end the experience will have been worth it.
“yup, this one is about work.. finally.. i landed on a job that is within my field of expertise.. which is engineering.. my dad is prouder.. my mom is happier.. and me, well.. im still contemplating.. you see, i’ve always wanted to be a writer.. and as you can see, engineering is way too far from being a writer.. but then.. back to my job.. i’m a “radio frequency field operations and maintenance engineer”.. what a title huh?! in simple truth, i travel around and visit cellphone sites and i make sure that you’re mobile phone is in it’s maximum signal.. and most of the time, i climb towers, yup those hundred meters or so towers, colored red and white or blue and white.. and well, you know how it goes.. i’m a girl by the way, so that kind of complicates things.. but the thrill is amazing.. when you’re a hundred meters above the ground.. with only the rope to hold you together.. it’s way different.. it’s kinda peaceful up there.. the wind blows on your face.. the sun in your eyes.. or the rain, depends on the weather.. and well, it makes you realize how beautiful the world is.. the 360 degrees view is breathtaking.. and it’s always an adventure.. every step you make on your way up, you fight the fear of height and everything that comes with it.. and every time you conquer your fear it’s freeing.. i may not always want to be an engineer.. i’m still a writer by heart.. but i definitely love this job.. especially when im up there doing my stuff..”
Here I am, in Barcelona.
It is dirty, gritty, dusty and wild. I can’t speak the language and within only 2 months I can locate the junkie corners and realize that there is no way to make a big loop around them to go and visit my boy. What else can I say, – I love it.
My boy actually packed up all his things in Australia and came over to be with me. Romantic? I’d like to think so.
We found us a really beautiful on-top-of the roof apartment for relatively little money for Barcelonian standards.
It is perfect for writing music… the seemingly only quiet place in this city.
I am adoring university – It is very small with less than 50 students. They come mainly from Belgium, the Netherlands and German speaking regions. We even have a French dude with an awesome accent. It always brightens up my day when we have Spanish class. Everyone gives it their personal, ridiculous little accent.
And I thought English was hard to pronounce…
for now. It’s a bit vague for my list and I have been working on being more spontaneous this year anyway. I think that’s adventure enough for now. Anyway, I’m an introvert, so I don’t think I’ll ever be a base-jumper. Changing my brand of toothpaste is quite enough for mow. ;oP
So last month, I went to visit my youngest brother who lives in North Carolina. I drove the supposedly 8 hours and 21 minutes in one day with only my two young kids (ages 4 and 2). They’re great travelers, which is why I could do it in one day. I had tentatively planned to stay the night after driving half way, but I gave my oldest the option. I said, “We can either spend the night in a hotel or keep driving.” She said, “Let’s just keep driving, Mama.” A girl after my own heart. ::smiles::
We had a great trip all around from the drive down, the visit, and the drive back. I have to admit that I was a little nervous. It’s been a while since I’ve taken such a long road trip. But it went so well that I told my brother we’ll try to make it a yearly visit.
To be more adventurous, I have decided to run for the 2008 US Presidential Elections. I represent my own political party: Get Elected or Die Trying. My main concerns lie in alien invasions, getting laid, landmines on playgrounds, and most importantly, the second coming of the Dinosaurs. If you feel that these issues should be confronted, vote Masturbazn for President in 2008.
