I will turn 30 on november 16, 2006. I don’t have good experiences with my birthdays (lots of people always cancel and don’t come), but I would like to have a nice, happy birthday this time! 6 years ago
I had more of a birthday weekend than just one day. I figure I get one day for each decade. :-D
Saturday was a delicious dinner at an Ethiopian restaurant followed by coffee and dessert at the café under the theater. The musical One was beautiful, funny and inspiring. The dance party after the show was so much fun. I managed to not feel self-conscious or intimidated dancing with the very attractive and talented cast members. I even got up on stage and danced when the band did their last number.
Sunday I slept in luxuriously late then had dinner and cake with my family.
On Monday, my actual birthday I had the pleasure and good fortune of attending a book reading/signing with Neil Gaiman. Shaking hands with one of my literary idols rivals dancing with sexy actors as a birthday high point. All in all, it was an excellent way to ring in a new decade. 7 years ago
I copied this goal from BluePlasticStraw. It looks like a fantastic idea.
It will not be an easy thing to do. I moved to this country only recently, and don’t know a lot of people yet. Even worse, as my job is getting offshored, I might have to move again before my birthday in January.
I’ve been thinking about this all morning now. Hell, I just deserve a great party. I’ve worked a lot and achieved a lot this year, more than in any other year of my life.
So, my plan is to just put an ad saying something along the lines of “Hi, I’m new in this town. I turn 30 tonight and want to have the party of my life. You’re invited.”
I’ll have to think more about this, but I really like the idea. It works against my usual shyness, which is great. 7 years ago
I’m secretly hoping that someone will send me flowers on my birthday, even though I know it’s not going to happen and I feel a bit foolish for wanting them.7 years ago
My sister is coming to town to help me celebrate. Tickets to rock musical One have been purchased. After-show Dance Party is to be attended. Dinner plans are still up in the air because I can’t decide if I want to do fancy schmancy (read: expensive) or stick to a tried and true favorite. I suppose I should decide soon. 7 years ago
Neil’s book tour swings through Portland on my birthday. It would be very cool to have him wish me a Happy Birthday ::insert swooning fangirl moment::. 7 years ago
If I have this as a goal and I fail, I’m gonna feel extra, double crappy. I may just go back to the denial stage where I’m 29 and holding. Hell, everyone thinks I look younger, so I should be able to pull that off for a while. 7 years ago
My birthdays usually suck. Generally they pass very nearly unacknowledged. I kind of want someone to throw me a party, although I know that’s not going to happen. I guess I’ll have to take matters into my own hands.
Any ideas for marking the end of my 20’s? 7 years ago
