Today I set up all of my Chinese paint stuff and locked myself in my room for three hours while I painted. The painting turned out okay but my calligraphy on it is so bad I’d be embarrassed to have any Chinese people see it. (My student Andy would get a big kick out of how horrid my Chinese characters are.)
I guess what I’ll need to do is try again and this time trace the characters onto my paper. I know that’s kind of cheating but it’s the only way I can make the characters look decent enough.

it can just be so hard to get started! I just need to force my self to get out my brushes one of these days.

I was so into my art for years and ever since last summer it has just slowed down to the point where I rarely paint, draw, or photograph anything at all. I’m thinking that it might have something to do with the low quality of the work that I was putting out for awhile. I had so many deadlines that I became burnt out and made the choice to take a break, but I’ve never gone back. I need something that moves me to paper.
