How to win an award
It made me
famous
 "I thought I was just travelling the world."
How I did it: I think the speech said it all:
It is according to these criteria that the selection committee judge the nominees for the Teddy Bear of the Year award. This year the nominees included over fifty very deserving bears from all over the world, but we could select only one. The sifting process took some careful deliberation, but gradually one individual rose to our attention. Snickerdoodle Macbear is still a young bear, but nevertless a remarkable one. He's just over two years old, but soon after his last stitch was stitched, he left his hometown in Kansas to travel the world. He did not do it for his ownbenefit, but only to bring joy to others. He has hugged people from Thailand, Italy, South Africa, and in twenty States in the USA. This is a shining example of hugging without reserve or favour. Snicks is a great comforter. His stuffing is firm yet forgiving, and his fur can absorb copious amounts of tears. Snickerdoodle has an excellent record of sharing. He could have stayed home in Kansas with his mother, or stayed in Italy for the pizza or in Milwaukee for the beer, but he has always moved on, ready to be shared with more and more people. Mr Macbear is an excellent facilitator of communication. He doesn't say much himself, but he has the nack of getting people around him talking to each other. Few bears has generated so much conversation in so many languages. The Teddy Bear Club is therefore are proud to award Snickerdoodle MacBear the Bear of the Year award. The itself award is a simple one, a tag of ivory, inscribed with ebony ink, naming the award and the year it was awarded in. Mr Macbear, will you come to the stage please? Snickerdoodle Macbear, thank you for being all that a good Teddy Bear should be. On behalf of the Teddy Bear Club I present you with the Teddy Bear of the Year award for 2009. Easily my greatest accomplishment in my 22 years. First-place in the New Jersey Press Association’s Better College Newspaper Contest. :D
I got my first real ‘award’ last night at our graduating design exhibition! It was such a great suprise!
I have always put a lot of effort into my studies, and therefore received good grades all throughout school. However i have never been one of those amazing students that gets presented academic achievement awards at school assemblies and what not.
But last night, our state’s graphic design association in conjunction with my lecturers, voted and presented me with the award for student with the most professional attitude towards work/study/presentation. Wooo!
My mother was so proud! Hehe.
Its nice to be finally recognised for all my hard work! And it should look great on my resume too! =)

I was just notified that I won a national “parent of the year” award for an advocacy organization I work with. I was stunned. It’s a bit misleading, though, because I believe that only people from my state were nominated, since the national convention is being held here this year. So really it’s a state award, not a national award, but it sure sounds good anyway! And it will be a nice way to get some recognition for our local organization and build some credibility with the powers-that-be. I’ll have to keep my mouth shut that probably only a handful of people were nominated in the first place. :)
Edit: No, no, it’s not for being a good parent – it’s for the category of “parent” (as opposed to educator, professional, legislator, etc.) in making a difference in our advocacy efforts. It should be called “Parent Advocate of the Year” I suppose.
Spirit of youth award

I won the “spirit of youth award a year or so back. it was for “dedicated service inspiring our youth toward the creation of a better world through aesthetics”. I like to volunteer and i love the arts so putting it together got me this award.

It’s not actually that I want to win an award as much as it is that I would like to be doing work that is worthy of an award. I want to feel that I deserve an award.
At the moment, I guess the only awards I could be up for would be a WCCA or an Eisner. I’ll see about expanding that and becoming eligible for Emmy’s and Oscars.

I’ve won dozens of awards, big and small, in many different forms, for all sorts of things: Art, spelling, attendance, sports, participation, music, public speaking, reading, science, and more… :D
What I need is a keepsake box for all of them…. x)
I won Best Project at the Design Showroom at my university (Universidad Nacional de Colombia) in 1998. It meant that my graduation project was the best among all presented that year. It was my revenge against people who didn’t believe I could make it and it felt soooooo good!

I like to say that I have no luck.. No bad luck, no good luck. It all just seems to even out. But I have always wanted to win something and this has never really happened unless $2.00 in a bingo game at the age of 10 counts? Is it sad that I am still holding on to that 21 years later? umm. I need more of goal though I think. What kind of Award should I try for? Thanks, elizabeth
