Compliment a complete stranger

I met a cool person too.

rekindle this again. I’ve been randomly complimenting people more this past week. :) Always real compliments – not the kind where you make up something just to sound nice. Ugh I hate that kind of people so I’d never do that.

But I really like seeing people smile at unexpected compliments, especially if they previously know me as a quiet classmate or just some stranger.

I’m reading back through my goals and I love this one. I’d love to me the type of person that can walk up to a complete stranger and say “nice top your wearing there” and actually mean it. I’ve got to do this as a challenge, I hereby set a deadline of 1 month to complete this goal and I’ll report back on how I go.

I’d noticed a new girl at my school with the most fabulous style this year. We happened to join the same volunteer group up there, and when she was presented, I blurted out “you’re the one with the fantastic clothes!” I think she was almost overwhelmed, but next time the volunteer group met, she said she just had to tell me how pretty my ear rings were. It felt a special moment.

I compliment strangers all the time. I do it to workers in shops I visit a lot, just because I’m going to see them again and especially if they’re looking a bit droopy, it’s a good way to brighten up their day or their shift, at least. :D

I won’t lie about something but I’ll usually find something to compliment them on. :) It’s harder with guys, though. They wear less accessories and I’m best at noticing those.

Advice on complimenting guys? Without seeming like I’m attracted to them or like a kiss-ass.

All I did was surf the profiles on myspace, spot a hot looking number and sent a message. I didn’t want it to be creepy or insincere. What I got back was, “smiles” thank you very much “winks”. Got me excited.

Think of it: when a friend or family compliments you, you assume they’re patronizing your or they’ll looking through their love-goggles. When a person who’s never seen or met you, get a first impression of you and says an ego-boosting thing to you, you’re on top of the world. They’ve made your day, especially if it’s something that they don’t hear that often. There are times where I see someone and want to say something, but that thought stays in my head with no desire to come out. Other times I’ll say something pedestrian and the other person won’t even bat an eye.
I want to do this!

just did it today, there was a girl who came into the library where I work and I complimented her on her hat. was a little thing but I feel proud of myself for doing it, it takes a bit of confidence but not as much as I used to think… it’s a real feel-good kind of thing. :)
