I have a love for Holy Texts and Holy culture. Why not visit a place that many of man’s forces have not colonized? Even better, why not see what I can learn from a group that practices all three “Faiths of Abraham” so closely to the way they were originally practiced.
My church is there but I am too scared to go.
Oh, well. Maybe one day if tensions ever get better. I cannot afford to die right now. I’m an only child with responsibilities.
Ugh..[I know this is kinda morbid but I have to take care of my family!]
My parents really flip flop a lot but my mother called me up last night saying – I WANT TO GO TO ETHIOPIA.
I told her about what she had said previously about it being dangerous but she said that if we go with this group and we have guides then it should be okay.
My church group is going.
So, it is back on.
Yeah!
I will keep myself posted!
The wildest thing EVER in my life happened last week here in New York City.
I met Amadou Diallou’s mother who is from Guinea West Africa.
Amadou Diallou was a young African immigrant who came to America for a chance of the American dream. He was working hard trying to save money for school and unfortunately, the New York Police Department shot him 41 times as he was going into his home. Sad!
I went to the African film festival this week and met his mother. She thought I was from Guinea. She even told me that she was going to start speaking to me in her language because she thought I was there.
I am convinced now that I better start meeting more Ethiopians because I feel there is a higher power for allowing me to look this way. Maybe there is a story that needs to be told or I can do some things within the Ethiopian community here in the USA.
I am empowered!
I want to visit Ethiopia because I’m in love with an Ethiopian and shes my best friend. She loves her country and I want to see where she grew up and whats important to her. I want to visit Ethiopia so be closer to her and discover a culture that has made such a wonderful person.
on 16th-18th december this year there is going to be a music and dance festival in the arba minch valley of southern ethiopia. you can get a flight direct from addis to arba minch. if any of you still want to visit ethiopia this would be the perfect oppurtunity to visit. hundreds of tribes will be doing their thing with music, dance, song, all in the beautiful setting of the Arba minch valley. Come along!
With the social unrest in Ethiopia, I am not to sure if I will ever make it there. I would like to visit because I am constantly mistaken for being Ethiopian. Even Ethiopian people speak to me in their language and are surprised that I am not one of them.
