How to start a record collection

Step 1: Find a record player 16 months ago

This is something I’ve wanted to do since I was in high school. My parents have an old record player that they never use anymore. A few years ago they converted their entire music selection to cd. I’m not sure if they sold all of their records, but I know they still have the player. I don’t even know if it still works, but it’d be great if I could get it for free!

a record collecting 17 months ago

Overtime I’ve been buying records here and there and people have given me them as gifts. I don’t have a big collection, seeing as I’m often broke & can find most things off the internet, but I’m happy collecting at the speed I’ve been doing. I don’t throw dance parties or anything, so my collection is good enough for me!

So far I’ve got:

Absolute Rulers- Live the Dream 7”
Plan R- My Friend is Dead 7”
Plan R- Not A Waste 7”
Undertones- The Sin of Pride
Unwound- A Single History
Chased and smash- something over hilsboro

And also, Adrian has purchased a record for me on Ebay as a gift and it is on it’s way! He bought me Hateful of Hollow- a $68 dollar record due to the pressing. Definitely one that’s been on my wish list for a while. That boy is crazy.

Wanted list:
Buzzcocks- Singles Going Steady
descendents- milo goes to college
Mirah- You Think it’s like this but it’s Really like this
New Order- Not sure which one I want yet
Ramones-
etc.

Well, it was an easy one, just go to a few garage sales or flea markets, and pick them up for a couple dollars each. Don’t put out a want ad. You get too many people contacting you thinking that their original ELO album must be worth a bunch.
