Just say no to Vegas. 16 months ago

5 years is way too long to live in a place where it regularly tops 110 degrees in the summer. Most of the people are not even people they are just trendy sheep that do what ever the idiot box tells them to. There is no sense of community, drivers suck, music scene sucks, there is no culture here because everything thats older than 25 years old is torn down, everything here is fake especially the people, I cant go outside I hate it here. Only have to put up with one more summer then I shall wander the earth.

We Did It! 2 years ago

We left yesterday. We said goodbye to our friends as they helped us load our trailer, and then we hit the road! My husband and I are moving to Tennessee, and we’re both so glad to be done with Sin City! I’ll continue praying for the people in Las Vegas, but I’m glad I no longer have to deal with the drivers there, the porno billboards, and the 120 degree summers!

YAY!! I thought this day would never come. I’m so thankful.

This is not the place for me.
There is clearly no sense of community in this town because there is no community to uphold. Everything is looked after by these shitty homeowners associations anyhow. we can’t even come together as a community where we live? we have to make associations to have committees to make rules for the “(financial) good of a community,” yet i can’t even play basketball in the tennis court when no one uses it for tennis?come the fuck on.

There is also a clear lack of culture here, and not only because it’s a new city, but because thats not what people come here to do. people are here to make money, not contribute back to their city and make it a fun place with lots of shit to do (that doesn’t involve spending hoardes of money). I’m not about to stick around and try either. Sorry, but i’m a desert deserter.

Home is where your heart is, right? 3 years ago

I’m out of Vegas now, and came home to Utah. I miss Vegas, miss my buddies, miss the fun. Utah brings me clarity, a bit more calmness, and serenity than I had in Sin City.
I start work next week at Snowbird, and am getting excited! It snowed yesterday, and it’s supposed to keep up all weekend. Can’t wait to get out on the mountain!! But still miss Vegas….weird!!

It's only been five months but... 3 years ago

I have lived all over the country and I thought, “hey- it can’t be THAT bad, right?” Well, all the comments are true. There is absolutely no community here, let alone a progressive community that cares about anything besides money. I really love my job (at the university) but without that there would be no redeeming quality to this place. The fatal traffic accidents, the people constantly trying to scam you, the preponderance of plastic surgeons and realtors. The best thing about Vegas really is getting out—-try the national parks (Zion, Grand Canyon, Bryce, Death Valley), Spring Mountains, Red Rock, Yosemite and the Sierras. Boulder City and Blue Diamond aren’t as bad…but good luck with the commute! There are nice people in Vegas, a few of us at least, hopefully we’ll cross paths and surprise each other!

GET OUT if you can! 3 years ago

my car was broken into, stolen twice, my apartment has been vandalized, every business relationship i have in this town has always been with a shady character. weather sucks, traffic sucks, crimes suck, vegas doctors suck, vegas dentists suck, vegas cops suck, insurance is expensive, produce is expensive and now housing is way too expensive. see commments for more!

I have lived in Missouri for seven years now. True, the humidity is a lot higher…but on the other hand, 100 degree days are unusual, not unusually cool. We have SNOW! And TREES! And GRASS! My youngest sister has no memories of Nevada and I love it!

Look for ways to escape. It took my family eleven years but it finally happened.

But you always will go back... 4 years ago

It took me 27 years of being in the Sin City to move. I came to Washington D.C. only to appriciate the west a lot more. For instance, you can go to a 7-11 that sells gas AND is open all night, banks are open on Saturday, there is a lake without snakes in it, you can buy alcohol if you want, you can even check out the scary people in the middle of the night at Wal Mart because they are OPEN! And if you do go away everyone will assume you were a drunk gambleaholic or a stripper or both, and they will not believe that you actually might not have worked in a casino or were a titty dancer and that Vegas actually goes out further than the Strip! For me it will always be Vegas Baby, Vegas! Besides where else in this country can a mob lawyer become Mayor and endorse Gin??
