I enjoy Tae Kwon Do, but my priorities have changed a bit. I would like to get into martial arts again, but I think I’d rather have one that would help me if (heaven forbid) I actually need to defend myself.
I love TKD, but its emphasis on the legs and little on upper body or grappling techniques won’t help me. Maybe someday.

Wow, more than a year since I’ve taken this up? Oh dear. I’d really like to get my black belt in this. I’ve read TKD schools are nothing more than McDojo’s and it’s useless in self-defense. Perhaps. But it’s a great way to keep in shape and it is a pretty cool martial art.

I somewhat regret not doing TKD earlier in college as I might have my black belt now. It’s frustrating to keep starting over again as I forget the moves/ranks don’t necessarily transfer from school to school.
I don’t know if I will have a chance to do this for a while, considering I really want to go teach English in Japan. I can take up Karate and Kendo there, but TKD might be a little harder to do.
