How I did it: I mean that. Don't get it pierced with a piercing gun, like they do in Claire's. It damages cartilage and makes for a much more painful experience. I had my nose pierced with a needle and hardly felt it, but when my helix was pierced with a gun, it was tender and very, very painful for weeks. I know that a gun makes it seem less painful, because it seems faster, but, trust me - go to a piercing studio and have it done with a needle. I rec… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I went to Woodys in Wycombe where they told me that because I was under 18 they required an adult (I only had a friend with me) so I called my mum and she came down and confirmed that I was old enough. The peircer was abit suprised to know I had been waiting for about a year to have this done but she was glad I had thought alot about it. It didn't hurt- really DID NOT HURT. I expected it to sting but it didn't really. I've had it now for … Read how I did it…

Go to a reputable piercer!!! and I’m not talking Claires accessories! Go to a tattooists or piercers [most tattoo parlors also have piercers!] who will do your piercing with a needle as a gun will cause the cartilage to shatter and it will not heal! Be prepared for some pain! The actual piercing itself doesn’t particularly hurt, it feels quite uncomfortable but not unbearable and as they are pushing the hoop through, there is almost no pain, any pain remaining will then diminish within about 30 seconds I’d say. However… the next day… it DOES hurt, I was almost in tears the day after I’d had it done and almost removed it because I just wanted some relief! But its so sore because its healing! This went on for about 4 days I’m afraid to say! However, it soon settled and to be honest was well worth the pain I went through!
If you do have any pain then take some painkillers! But don’t take any painkillers before getting pierced as they can thin your blood and a helix piercing actually bleeds quite a lot!
Make sure you follow all aftercare procedures too! and don’t change the piercing for more than 6 months! A long time but well worth waiting I promise!

I just thought about this and I think I’d look pretty with this on my left ear. I already have my tragus pierced on my left and a rook and cartilage done on my right. I also have a gage 2 on my lobes.

i think helix piercings look really cool, i’ve wanted one for years and i finally might get one.
I went in to get my helix pierced today. I was sooo excited. I used to have my right one pierced back in high school, but I kept ripping it out (by accident, of course). Anyway, the guy was going over all the info about cleaning it, and I asked what I should do while I’m driving home next week, and then on my way back out here at New Year’s? (55 hours each way…) And he told me to just wait until I get back. Sadness. 3 more weeks!
Since I can’t donate blood until next July, I think I might as well go ahead and pierce the top of my ear again like I wanted to. You have to wait 6 months after getting a piercing to donate blood, and I have to wait that much time anyway. So, might as well. :)

I did it myself two days ago. The piercing didn’t hurt but healing hurts a little bit.
was my 18th birthday present to myself. totally worth it, but it took a LONG time to heal completely.
Like the title said. it looks great, I’ve got two. I don’t know how many months has passed since I did it(one or two) but it still KINDA hurts if someone hits my ear. I’m willing to help with anything, from swollen ear to infected ear treatment. ;]
Looks so cool!
3 Weeks later i cannot sleep on my left side. Each time i touch my helix it still hurts BUT i LOVE IT! definately worth the pain, and i’ve only got lobes and tragus pierced and this one hurt the most to get pierced and thru the healing process. I’m just waiting for it to completely heal so i can get another helix piercing! ha ha Outcome definately out weights the minor details!
