I am trying to create space for new goals. At my present speed ,i will take about 18 months to read 100 great books .till that time this goal will remain there as a static goal;i can only record my progress .I have therefore decided to drop this goal as done.I am making a steady progress.

Another great three act play and a really pathbreaking small but great book.I am particularly impressed by the character of Nora in the play. The play must have made history when played for the first few times.
I have read this book twice but found nothing great in it.I was surpised to know that 20 million copies of this book have been sold. What do you think makes this book so popular?
I read this book .it is extremely powerful.it is about slavery. What terrible fate slaves went through.I have become curious to find out how slavery was removed/abolished in the world.A very thought provoking book.
Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man says that most human beings treat their fellow men as pawns to be manipulated in order to fulfill certain selfish ends. This is shown again and again in the novel. In all social relationships,we are restrained from exposing our inner self. How are we to respond to such a situation? We must “say yes and say no,” we must accept certain boundaries but strive to look beyond them and, little by little, push them back.
All focus on us as a mere member of a race or gender or group, never as an individuals. Ellison argues for the primacy of the individual against race or group. He wants us to be viewed as an individual, apart from whatever categories can be used to define us.
This novel tells us two things:
1.Manipulation is the rule in social relationships but we must try to look beyond them.
2.People view us according to the labels like race or class, not treating us like individuals. We must try to assert as individuals.
Invisible Man is a marvelous novel with great literary qualities
In the last one month or so ,i have read three books. These are truly great;these also find place in The Guardian’s 100 greatest books.A few other such lists also exist and these books are in them too:
