Glass Palace
I gave up on Emma basically because I think I want to move on from Jane Austen for the time being. It’s all getting a little predictable. I’m now reading a book my Dad got me called The Glass Palace by Amitav Ghosh. I’m getting quite drawn into it, even though it’s about war it still manages to keep my concentration (which is hard to do!). The character complexities are refreshing, their depth makes them dance around in my head helping me to understand and read much faster than usual. This may be because I want to know more about Burma, or beat my Dad by reading it before him, or it could just be a really good book.

I used to read loads of good books. Recently nothing’s really taken my interest. So anything i can read for atleast 100 pgs without wanting to kill myself from boredom is a good book for me therefor i have no excuse not to finish and enjoy a good book thouroughly!

I think I need to just better my life in general. And frankly, I don’t think that enjoying myself and endulging in a wonderful story would hurt. so, I think I should do it.

I’m so tired of reading books that all say the same thing, and books that don’t have any meanning. I want to find a book that sweeps me up and changes my thought, but that still is as nice to read as classic literature. Does anyone understand what I’m trying to say?? It seems that good, modern books can be so blunt. Is there ever beautiful writing that talks about modern, interesting and unexplored ideas?
