Have a book dedicated to me

one of my relatives was a famous author but I never really read her works until after she died. When I finally picked up her most famous book, I saw that she had dedicated it to my grandma (who had also passed away, and never knew this). It was a very heartwarming feeling to see someone else’s words about how someone so close to me affected their life. After that I decided I wanted to affect someone’s life in some way in my lifetime that they will never forget me and want everyone to know it. Maybe kind of selfish and conceited but it’s something i’d like none-the-less.

As someone else already said, it’s not like this is something I accomplished—but it’s still pretty cool:

Can't really say this was something I'VE done 2 years ago

A couple of years after I’d finished school My old history teacher had asked my younger cousin about what I was up to when she took his class. I was already in University. She said that he was very nice to her as she was my cousin and told her that he wrote Airport Novels in his spare time and made quite a bit of money out of it.

Throughout the year he would ask her more and more about me, in terms of what I was studying and doing- hanging out with, etc and she thought it was weird- like maybe he was gay and had a crush on me or something like that…..

It turned out that he wrote a novel with a character based on me as the lead or central character. It wasn’t what you’d call an airport novel it was a bizarre type of coming of age story. But then everything about my life HAS generally been tinged by the bizarre. He gave her a copy which I’ve read and it is an odd feeling to read about a character based on another’s perception of you in the circumstances that are contrived to fit with the story. It’s really discomforting in an interesting way- like walking around in someone elses perception of yourself. Very strange.

I never did find out his nom-de-plume so I don’t know whether the book has been published. I doubt it would have been in the state that I read it. So in a way it was better than a straight out dedication. Flattering and unsettling as well.

I couldn’t help anyone do this- as it was DONE to me without me knowing. I guess the closest thing to do it work as a model at an art school and let people paint or draw you. But then everyone gets to see your peepee as generally for life studies you have to be nude.

write your own book and dedicate it to yourself, or whoever you want, get on with it, the clock is ticking.

Book for me! 4 years ago

This would be way too cool. I’d have to buy a couple dozen copies of the book! Maybe one of my friends will become an author…
