I realize that there is no way that I can in a healthy way lose that much weight from now by the end of the year so I’m giving up on this one. I am also starting to realize that my approach in the past has likely been a bit too scale obsessed so from now on I will instead focus more upon improving my lifestyle to make it more healthy overall and have faith that weight loss will be a natural part once my body catches up to the changes. Since after all one’s body weight is merely the long term product of one’s overall lifestyle and if it is going up or down that is because your body is still adjusting to the overall lifestyle. 2 years ago

After some roundabout ups and downs today I’m at a new low of 264 which is down 6 pounds from my new years weight of 270 after a long time of holding steady at around 267. Looks like the more green smoothies and less meat is doing me a bit of good when it comes to the scale. At this point I am more concerned about making progress in the right direction as compared to the numbers as even if I only lose 10 or 15 pounds instead of 20 in 2010 it will be 10 or 15 more than I did in 2009 which was for practical purposes a year without progress. 2 years ago
Wow I’m amazed at how such seemly trivial changes can result in huge behavioral chances. A few days ago when having granola for breakfast I started filling my bowl with the granola before getting a spoon out and putting the box away when I got up for a spoon. Since then I’ve still filled full for a while after breakfast but unlike other times 1 bowl no longer runs the risk of turning into 1.5, 2 or 3. 2 years ago
This is another little milestone that helps spur me forwards to continue to lose the rest of my weight – another 40 lbs to go till I hit my final target.
Would be nice to get there this year but if I don’t then as long as it’s not long into the new year then that’s fine :)
I’ve not found a miracle weight loss product and haven’t bought any special diet food. I’ve just eaten more sensibly and exercised. This way I hope that this weight loss is sustainable. 3 years ago
Today I was down 2 pounds from last time which put me at 2.5 pounds thus far this year. Hopefully now that the weather is becoming nicer I will be able to get out and hike more which should help the pounds hit the road faster. 3 years ago
Weighted myself again today and found that I was the same as the previous week after the backsliding which puts me at .5 pounds lighter than I was at the start of the year. Hopefully with increased focus I will be able to regain some ground this coming week. 3 years ago
Weighed myself again today and I was shocked to find that I’m up 5 pounds since last time I was on the scale. Looks like I need to reevaluate what I’m doing to see about turning things around in the right direction again. 3 years ago
Weighed myself today and found that I had lost a half pound bringing the total to 5.5 for the year. Not the best considering that it represents close to 2 weeks but at least it was not a regain. Looks like I will need to work on picking up the pace to focus more upon what I’m doing and eating. 3 years ago
Today I weighed myself and I was down a pound again which means I’ve lost 5 pounds since the start of the year. Only 15 more pounds till I reach the bare minimum I want to lose this year. 3 years ago
