Zaleyai didnt,

and this is in the wrong column,it should, or most of these goals are in the “give up column” I didn’t lose weight, didn’t go to the gym due to the knee injury in January, but on the positive side I did concentrate on one thing particularly hard and now I start a new job the middle of April!!!!

Better duties, better pay, better benefits, a permanent full time position and downtown! One bus, closer to home and the gym is on the way home from work so will see on that!! My retirement system goes with me… yay! 3 years ago

She's Awake!Annoying - can't undo an undone goal

I still have o/s’s from January. and now, I have to add “lose 5 pounds” to the list. 3 years ago

newsurfiegirlWell I didn't really get this one down did I?

I did plant some veges, and some of them are still alive!
I have been working on my calendar but I can’t upload pictures on scrapblog at the moment for some reason!
I am getting better at eating my fruit, I don’t know why I have such a problem with this as I love my fruit!
I am getting better at exercising.
My birthday cards weren’t done.
I am listing five things I’m grateful for most days at transformation.com
I am getting more consistent with balancing my finances but it is not yet daily.
My kitchen didn’t get clean and I didn’t meditate, I don’t think I even got to bed early, oh well maybe next time! 3 years ago

LunaJan boot camp grade=59

It’s been a loooong time since I’ve got a grade, but I thought it appropriate to grade myself here to measure my success: I accomplished 59% which could be translated to “Fail”, but, like ExGratia affirms, 59 is a lot better than zero, so that already is a success.

Observing my graph, I can see where I can make improvements, and today I “made up” by having a 2-hour pampering session plus a dancing session!! Ah! I feel so good today and very motivated.

I believe that the biggest success of this January Boot Camp is that it has gotten me going; I’ve gained momentum that is pushing me forward. So on to Feb’s boot camp.

I want to thank ExGratia for setting up these goals and for everyone who has joined. With a little or great amount of input, we have created a fabulous synergy that I’m sure will continue on :) 3 years ago

GertieMonth in Review - January 2010

1) Get a job
I attended a job interview on the 29th, and have had three telephone interviews trying to get me into volunteer work (for the meantime). As of the 31st I have not received any job offers.

2) Make one new photography contact
I made four new photography contacts!

3) Have one new networking coffee chat; must involve exchange of business cards
several coffee chats, one networking, most just lunch with ember :-D
I did exchange business cards with three new contacts.

4) Discard one stone
have not made one effort towards this, other than discovering there is a running track in my local park. I’m looking forward to February Boot Camp as a way to kick my ass into gear.

5) Pre-prep weekly meals
feels good to be doing this again.

6) Complete five of my 43Things
I got four done! (January Boot Camp, To Do list, Paint foyer art, and Photograph 43 Dogs)

7) Write at least 3 journal entries a week (MWF, if need be)
I hit my quota and then some. Third week in I even wrote an entry every day. Feels good to get back to something I used to enjoy and connect with people again.

8) Take at least one photo every dayEVERY day, can you believe it? I’m actually challenging myself to do one a day for the entire year, but I’m not going to beat myself up if I have to double up for any days missed. For January though, especially being the first month of the year and a special boot camp success, I was very eager to make sure I took one every day. Another way that I began to reconnect emotionally.

9) Fix laptop and setup an area for home office
the inverter did not correct the laptop screen problem, so for now I’m going to leave it connected to the tv. I reogranized the cabinet though and now all I have to do is plug the cable into the laptop to print. Ideally I will like to have all of this wireless someday.

10) One night out in high heels and makeupTWO times out in heels and many nights/days in makeup. Look at me, I’m a girl! 3 years ago

jansuSo how did I do?

Life is still racing away with me just lately and this goal seems to have suffered for this. I am exhausted and working full out, so no time for very much else.

1. Not done very well with this at all! No meditation done and the 6 habits method seems just like another thing I have to do!
2. Did my study and planning and all – 10++
3. 4/10 interesting walks completed and enjoyed greatly!
4. Not done any additional exercise – shameful! I am so much more aware of my body and how it is feeling these days.
5. 10/10 glasses of water replaced 10 cups of caffine every week as planned.
6. Whoops! lbs coming on and not off! What is happening??
7. My life is so busy just now I have had to put taking a daily photo on hold.I take one when I can and when I remember.
8. 5/10 visits completed.
9. Eating much more fruit and veg and more mindful of my eating.
10. 0/10 journal entries unless you count writing here on 43things.

What today’s reflections have made me aware of is how much life and work are taking over yet again. Seems to be a bit of a theme for me in life. How can I get the balance right? This needs thinking about and sorting out before long. This week I am going to work at home one day and I am going to go in later in the day on my late night. I have to crack this work/life balance thing! 3 years ago

sierrakJanuary Boot Camp: About 60% Done With the Goals

So, it’s February 1st, how did I do with these goals? I’d say I got them about 60% done. I would have liked to have finished more, but perhaps my list was too ambitious. Especially the weight-training one, my right arm still felt pretty bad for most of the month. So I finished Five of them, started four of them, and didn’t really make any progress on one of them. Guess I need to keep working!

INCOMPLETE! •1. Get back on track with my goal of weight-training three times per week. My right arm is still kind of screwed up from my surgery and still-not-finished radiation, so my goal is to get back into this doing at least the lower body and ankle weights. My doctor said I could lift some light weights with my right arm, so I’ll just have to play the upper body weights by ear.
FINISHED! •2. To get started on my “Update My wardrobe goal” I want to complete my closet purge this month. I have an uncomfortable feeling that when I do this, I’m not going to have much let, but that’s okay, then it will be time to go shopping! And I plan on rewarding myself for finishing my radiation with some shopping!
DID WELL HERE! •3. Get some aerobic exercise at least five days a week. Minimum exercise is 1+ miles walking the dog. More as my fatigue and crappy weather allow. Would like to do some riding on the exercise bike. Can’t swim until at least February, need radiation rash to be gone first.
PARTIALLY DONE •4. Clear off my computer desk. Yuck.
DONE! •5. Clean off table in Living Room. Yuck again.
STARTED< BUT NOT FINISHED •6. Give away or store old kids’ books. Decide which ones I want to keep.
SUCCESS! •7. Cook dinner at home at least five times each week. Save money and eat healthier. It’s okay if I buy prepared food from Whole Foods, it’s still much cheaper than eating out.
COMPELTE! •8. Make appointment and get my teeth cleaned. have been procrastinating on this due to the radiation, I need to suck it up and get it done.
ALMOST DONE! 9. Fix tile in guest bathroom. Need to figure out with DH what needs to be done. Mostly this is his job, but I need to keep after him to get it done!
STARTED< NOT DONE! 10. Clean up guest bedroom so it is usable for unexpected guests. 3 years ago

KayBellKnitterJanuary report card

Reviewing the goals and what I did toward them:

1. Lose 10 pounds
I lost a pound early in the month, gained it back.

2. Go for a 1-hour walk, 5 days a week
I started out the month strong, but petered out mid-way. I’m back to thinking the treadmill is boring, and the weather was too rainy to walk outside. I DID do the rowing machine, one day, instead of the treadmill, so I could see adding that in for variety. Walked for 45 minutes on Jan 31 to get back into the habit.

3. Practice yoga daily
I did a solid four days a week of 75 minute practices all month. I think the key, for me, to getting in some yoga on the other three days of the week is simply to make those three days a 20 or 30 minute practice.

4. Eat 5 fresh fruits and/or veggies a day
As with the weight loss and walking goals, I started out the month strong, and then my interest shifted.

5. Clean out my e-mail inboxes
Between my personal and business e-mail accounts, I have 5 mailboxes. I completely cleaned out only one inbox, this month. The world does not end if I don’t clean them out, so this is a low priority.

6. Get ahead of the bookkeeping
I meant this goal a little bit tongue in cheek, since bookkeeping is a historical record of transactions after they occurred. I accomplished several MAJOR bookkeeping tasks this month, and am well ahead of where I was, this time last year. I’m proud of myself for this one.

7. Resolve issues of incorrect-fitting contact lenses and/or get a consultation for laser eye surgery
Done. Got new lenses on th 11th.

8. Cure my feet (callus and peeling skin problems)
Done, with the help of OTC products.

9. Wash my car once a week
Done. Got the final wash on Jan 31, and the good news is that it did not rain afterward, but only the tiniest sprinkle. In retrospect, I should have written this goal as: Wash my car four times in the month of January, because there are just too many variables about the weather and having the time and opportunity to be in the neighborhood of the particular car wash that I like to use to really make sense of perfect once a week timing.

and the 10th thing … still to be determined
:-)

Can I exercise more self-discipline in February? 3 years ago

yearendDone!

Well, my skin is clearer!I wasn’t expecting this as an outcome, but I think consistently going to bed at 10 p.m. on work nights helped!

Overall, I did well. In addition to getting in bed early, I made a practice of drinking green tea and eating mindfully daily. I updated, but did not re-design my resume. I cleaned up my closet and took a few items to goodwill. I tried a new recipe and tracked my fuel and food costs. Oh, and my taxes are done! I failed to upload a photo for 43things profile, which is ridiculous. You would think this would have been the one thing I would have accomplished! 3 years ago

lookingatthestars

kitUntitled

1. Yoga: Ease my way back onto the mat, ensuring I practice yoga at least twice each week.

2. Learning: Read ‘In Defense of Food’ by Michael Pollan

3. Go Natural: Have my hormone implant removed and use no hormonal contraception in January.

4. Pump: Attend a bodypump class at the gym to see if I like it.

5. Hydrate Ethically and with Style: By buying myself a stainless steel water bottle

6. Give Up: Abstain from eating any takeaway or restaurant or ready-to-eat food from anywhere.

7. Post: Post to my little fitness blog every day (this begins once my computer gets home, which could be on Friday…)

8. Girlie Journal: Keep a journal recording my girlie business (cycle, mood, physical pain etc) as I enter into the unfamiliar world of hormone-free living. I want to observe the changes in my body and be very aware of what is happening so that I can make some informed choices for myself regarding future contraception.

9. Gimme 10: Ten pushups each day. For real. Pushups are my kryptonite.

10. Just 3: Do 3 cardio sessions at the gym throughout the month.

I’m so happy with the way this little boot camp goal has turned what could have been a complete disaster of a month, into something productive and positive. I feel like most of January was spent battling hormonal goblins, caring for my sick granny and waiting for my computer to be fixed, and yet I’ve crossed off some fabulous goals.

Looking forward to February Boot Camp 3 years ago

Ru ~ dig deeperDrumroll…

For me, the main purpose of this goal was to try to get motivation flowing in a bunch of different areas, and to make clear goalposts for each. I wanted things that would push me and I could raise the bar on, but not so high I’d be courting failure. I did much better than anticipated, and feel like I shot well past my goalposts for every single thing.

I’m really excited about some of the progress I’ve made and I’m ready to come out kicking and swinging in February’s Boot Camp.

Exercise – Walk 30min 5 days a week

  • Done! Generally longer than 30 minutes, faster than a walk, and closer to daily than 5/7. (And when I didn’t walk, I did something else. ) Sometimes I was out for as much as 2 hours with (gasp!) running and jumping involved.

Giving – 1 new Kiva loan

  • Done! To a woman in Adéta, Togo who wants to send her 5 kids to university. And we took several carloads of donations to Sally Ann as well.

Health – Water and vitamins (multi, iron, folic acid) daily

  • Done daily! Plus I added an extra vitamin C and started a sleep goal, which is going very, very well.

House – Declutter 1 box of Paul’s, 10 boxes of mine

  • Done! And SO much more – I made it through several of Paul’s boxes and donated some of his old belongings (and carloads of ours) and got through dozens of our boxes (50? 60? at least 1 or 2 a day) plus some other cluttery jobs and household repairs. HUGE difference.

Joy – Catch up on 2009 happiness entries

  • Done! And for 2010 as well. Still one of my favorite goals.

Love – 1 date, alone together

  • Done! An all nighter! And my parents have now suggested a standing monthly overnight for Isak (which is fantastic!) so another one is in the works for February. We also carved out a number of nice evenings talking over tea, listening to music, or watching movies.

Reading – Start and finish 1 new book

  • Done! Not just one book, but five! I’ve really been enjoying making time for daily reading again. (If you count new kids books, I can quadruple that number…)

Relationships – Reach out to 10 friends

  • Done! Many more than 10 – I tried to contact at least one person daily and had face to face get togethers with people I haven’t seen in a while and quality Skype time with those too far away to meet up. I’ve needed to reconnect.

Weight – 1 week without refined sugar

  • Done! Plus I kept going for most days of the month, severely cut down on alcohol and fat, and the family has made some permanent switches to healthier choices (ie. We switched to 100% nut peanut butter, bought less sugary cereals, stopped putting sugar in tea, stopped buying our heavily used flavored creamer, switched a usual juice to one with 1/3 of the sugar, and I’m using 100% maple syrup in my coffee now). Lost several pounds.

Wealth – Apply for credit card

  • Done! Not just applied for, but approved, picked up, and activated. I also looked at ways to boost our credit rating, added more than the aim I’d set for our savings and started Isak out with his first job and first piggybank (a bear actually).

Bonus – Nailed the bowling goal after years on the list! Saw friends I haven’t seen since the summer!

I find these types of goals really encouraging – a lovely swell of other people pushing themselves and encouraging each other. Great to be a part of. Go! Go! Go! 3 years ago

Waterfall NymphJanuary Recap

You know, considering I was sick 23 days this month, not too bad.

Unfortunately, for the last three years, this is how the winter is. But, partially, thanks to the boot camp, I’ve managed to exercise more this January than I have in the past.

Goal Recap
I actually fully achieved none of my goals.
  • Lost 2 pounds. Kept under 1550 calories on 12 days.
  • 20 days of stretching
  • 13 days of the 100. I can see a difference in my abs, even with that spotty attention.
  • In bed by 10, 10 times. Way more than I thought I had. Kind of knew that goal was unrealistic when I wrote it.
  • Was outside 25 days. So important to keeping my mood up.
  • Did push-up program 6 times
  • Did 5K runs 6 times
  • Rode a bike 7 times
Which, when you consider the colds, is pretty awesome.

I feel pretty good. I may not have made huge strides in anything, but I’m moving forward and, after the December of total illness, that feels super. I know I’ll probably be sick for most of February, because that’s how I do it, but I’m motivated to continue the progress. See you there! 3 years ago

nicolasc - spring has sprung!Well, I didn't meet all the goals,

but I was much more conscious of attempting to fit in the things on the list, so I’m OK with that. My results are recorded in my first entry under this goal. 3 years ago

dragonfly35

dragonfly35Final Summary: 78%; 5 goals fully complete

I assigned a numerical value to my goals, and determined that I did 115/148 or 78% of my goals for the month. 5/10 goals were 100% complete. Of the goals that were not 100%, two of these were because of my back injury on January 11. Incidentally, I’ve also run 74.82 miles this month and lost quite a bit of weight. I don’t know how much yet – I will try to get a sense at my February 11 doctor’s appointment (although I will have to weigh in clothed). Still my clothes fit again, which is just awesome!

Dragonfly’s 100 January Successes: Final Summary
  1. Run 10 km each weekend: Ran 10.47 miles/ 16.85 km this weekend. I have completed this goal 5/5 weekends. SUCCESS
  2. Go to 10 yoga classes or more in January: I only attended 3/10 classes because of my back. I look forward to going back to yoga in February. GOAL DROPPED DUE TO INJURY
  3. Have 10 vegan days in January: I ate fully vegan on January 27 and 27, bringing me to a total of 10 vegan days. SUCCESS
  4. Chart my hours of exercise per week: I amended this goal slightly and achieved it in its new form. (I learned that 10 hours of exercise a week is not currently healthy in conjunction with the training plan I’m on.) In the last week of January, I did 6.25 hours of exercise. SUCCESS
  5. Cook 10 recipes in January: I amended this goal slightly from new recipes. I cooked 3 delicious recipes this past week for a total of 10/10. SUCCESS
  6. 10 minutes or more of meditation a day in January: I had a big blip this week and missed 3 days; however, I meditated a total of 20/29 boot camp days (and that’s 20 more days than I meditated in December!) PARTIAL SUCCESS
  7. 10 minutes or more of pranayama a day in January: Same as meditation. PARTIAL SUCCESS
  8. Be able to do 10 Sun Salutations (“Sūryānamaskāra B”): I did not achieve this, again because of my back problems. GOAL DROPPED DUE TO INJURY
  9. Eat 10 different vegetables a week in January: 12 different vegetables this week! I ate more than 10 vegetables all 4 weeks of boot camp. SUCCESS
  10. Choose to walk or bike to my destination (or at least 30 min) 10 times: I only did this once in the last week of January, for a total of 3/10. I’m most surprised that I failed as this goal, as normally I walk instead of busing quite often. I think between the weather, my injury, and my training schedule, I just wasn’t into it this month – and I do believe I’m healthier for not forcing the issue. PARTIAL SUCCESS

January’s a wrap, folks. Thanks for all the support and for boot campin’ it with me. Looking forward to February. :) 3 years ago

3. 10 Days of Food Diary entries

4. 10 Sessions of Mindful Decluttering

suejk

suejkRe-cap of January Boot Camp

So, my overall assessment of January Boot Camp is found below. In general, I feel like I started to establish healthier habits, although my goal of losing weight is not as successful as I’d like. Each of my goals is highlighted—red for a no-go, blue for a partial success, and green for a success.

1. Have at least 10 days that start with meditation This one didn’t really happen. I did try to be more mindful of my breath and relaxation strategies during the month, but I can’t really say this was a huge success.

2. Only eat fast food crap 1 time in the entire month—this will be a huge challenge! Total success here! Got the fast food monkey off my back. The one time I had it I didn’t even like it!

3. Track everything, including journaling, food and exercise on Startyourdiet.com for the entire month I did pretty well on this one…I tracked most days. 3:00pm and later seems to be my challenge. I’ll try and work on this in February some more.

4. One yoga class a week for the entire month Awesome success on this one!

5. Lose at least 7 lbs—who am I kidding, I want to lose 10! I’m not sure what my weight is right now. I am feeling a little too fixated on the number on the scale, so I’m not sure what my plan is. I think I do still want to try and stick to Weight Watchers, but I’ve got mixed feelings.

6. Drink green tea Love the green tea…a new healthy habit!

7. %{color:blue}your text%Workout once each week on my own

8. One session a week with a trainer for the month of January These workouts are going very well. Feeling good!

9. Eat at least 4 fruits and vegetables most days of the week I did much better on this one, although the last few days have not been as good. Again, a fresh start in February.

10. Have no more than 5 Diet Pepsi a week for the month of January Did a decent job on this one, although I can feel myself slipping during the last week or so. I’ll be diligent in February!

All in all, I feel like I’ve started some healthier habits. I need to remind myself that I’m in this for the long-haul, focusing on improving my health. I still feel like I want the pounds to melt off, but I don’t think that will happen that easily.

So, I’m up for the challenge of February! 3 years ago

KnittinMamaDone

My computer is sad and sick, so I only have a few seconds to update.

I did most of it. I failed at the Nerd Dating. I decided to fail at not drinking caffeine. I haven’t finished cleaning my home. But I played games, dressed up, was social, had good blood sugars, a few surprizes and generally had a great month.

Mark this done. 3 years ago

LibrarianDone!

The 10 Tens format worked extraordinarily well for me. I think I may do it again. I kept track with tic marks on a grid. When I reached 10 tic marks in a column, I literally stuck a star in that column (I know, I’m, like, eight years old). I just put on my 10th star!

Two things worked out in surprising ways. Drink 10 cups of tea, turned into nearly 20 (and I may make that by the end of the day). Many of them were in restaurants. This is important because the last time that I tried to quit drinking soda, my down fall was restaurants. Now that I know I can get myself to drink tea in restaurants, I’m poised for success on reducing and then eliminating soda from my life.

The other surprise was “10 sessons of at least 10 minutes each of working on my study.” I made an astounding amount of progress, working on things that had been sitting there for years.

What a great way to start the new year! 3 years ago

inner guruDone . . . with 12 hours to spare!:)

I started this goal with a bunch of other lists that I was committed to as well. So, it was Not a ‘piece of cake’ to accomplish it. There were times, in the last week, when I was thinking “Who knew January only had 31 days”?:)

Now that it’s done and even though I am out of breath, even though some of the items on my other lists have suffered a bit, even though I feel like I want to ‘zone out’ and veg for a month (just kidding . . . maybe) showing up everyday and paying lots of attention to the life I am creating with every decision is a good reminder of why I am how I am. I’m wired for continually growing and shedding and reinventing and working to get better than who I was yesterday. I’ve always been this way … today I am particularly proud of that.

Today, I am particularly impressed with 43T and especially grate-full for all the support from 43Thingers. Thank you. 3 years ago

ExGratiaPhoomp.

That’s the noise my motivation made today, with the month’s end. It sounded like a head hitting a big fluffy pillow. I’m going to have to kick myself in the ass and start February with a rejuvenated drive, because right now, I’m feeling lazy.

I have maintained December’s weight loss, lost about 2-3 more, and I’ve started yoga classes. January’s original goals for me got derailed by sickness, but I did pick up some new habits like taking my vitamins consistently, increasing my intake of green veggies, trying new healthy foods and recipes, and no giving in to depression this winter.

The sun is shining today, I need to go ride my bike, even if it is freezing. 3 years ago
