Getting out of the house regularly is definitely a good idea, because you can end up like a hermit. I’ve been working out of my home for 8 years, and it has its ups and downs. It’s like you’re never at work, but it’s also like you’re always at work. The office is only a short walk away.
Then again, if you have a laptop and a cell phone and can forward your office calls to your cell, you have a ton of freedom. There’s nothing like going shopping or playing golf on a weekday, when most working stiffs are in the office!
In theory. I have been telecommuting for over 4 years. The difficulty is that Home & Work become so blurred that to be at home is to be at work. It is a juggling act, the thing is you must find a reason to get out of the house every day or you go crazy. I am like talking out of the house for a good 6-8 hours. Balance is difficult to achieve when your at home at least 16 hours a day (8 for work, 8 for sleep – throw in a couple of meals and you never get any social stimulation)
