I learned massage to earn a living after I graduated from college and no prospective employers cared. It may sound odd today, but in 1972 times were different. Everywhere you applied for work, there was a “glut”. Professionals were a dime a dozen. Lawyers were waiting tables, and women with masters degrees were secretaries.
I went to massage school, thinking I would develop a business where I would massage people at home after they got off work. It didn’t work out, but I did move to Hawaii and work in a half way house for heroin addicts for a time.
I had to give it up as a career then, but now there are spas around the world who hire “massage artists”. I loved doing it, even though then my customers tended to be horny men.
At my fabulous wedding destination, couples will have an option of taking a couples massage lesson, where they will be guided as they take turns massaging each other.
I believe in massage.

I like to think that I’m pretty good at giving massages. I’m actually thinking about getting licensed. A couple of people have told me that I do a pretty good job. =) I can pop a back 3 different ways and I heard of this candle and cup thing that works pretty good.
I’ve tried this on my dad and it relieved his shoulder/upper back pain. I lighted a tealight candle and placed it on the pressure point. Then I put a glass cup over it. The flame slowly goes out and the cup is filled with smoke and heat. The skin rises and after a couple of seconds or minutes you lift the cup. It works like a plunger and relieves the pain. Yup. =)

I agree with recieving a good massage. I’ve gooten many, and I tell you a majority of the time each person offers something different. Chances are if you like it others will. warm oils work real well. but remember the enviroment goes with it, music, scent, etc…

The only real way to learn how to massage is to receive a good one. Then you know what feels marvelous and what feels just.. painful. Tres simple!

The look on the face of the person you give it to, espically if it’s a surprise, is totally worth it :)

Deni H is juggling a lot of balls right now.
but, I’m the person all my friends and family come to for help with their massage needs. I’ve been doing this for about 17 years, so I’ve got tons of practice. During college people would pay me to entice me if I said I was too tired. The only reason this is worth doing is that it helps others. Otherwise, your fingers get really tired.

Taking a couples class is fun too. And of course, did shiatsu for school.
