Palm Tree Cutting 12 months ago

Jon climbed the ladder to get rid of some overhanging palm fronds which I took and put on the dirt patch next to the house.
Unfortunately his saw broke after a while, so we couldn’t really finish the job.

    My garden 12 months ago

There’s always weed to pick. It’s growing like weed, but I don’t want to use chemistry because I do my yoga here, too.
Might just have to spray if this keeps going on.
Next, I’ll also have to pick up all those oranges the tree is dropping like crazy now.

I managed to get an hour of yard work in before my stretching class today. I basically picked weed again around the area of the lawn chairs. I couldn’t believe how much there was, and I didn’t get it all done.

Almost Weed Free 13 months ago

Now that I’ve gone through the whole garden once it looks a lot better, but I have to start over again as it’s already re-growing. Temperatures are nice enough now that I can be outside any time of the day. Yay!

After spending a lot of time in the back yard, it looks a lot cleaner now. I’m not all done, but getting there.

    Picking Weed 14 months ago

My garden looks awful, it really needs some cleaning, picking weed and the pond is full of algae.
It’s been too hot in the summer to even think about working in the fenced in backyard, but now that it’s cooling down a bit I really want to start working and get it back in shape.
I already spent a few hours just picking weed. This will require some time, but it’s kinda pleasant, not hard work and can really get you into a meditative state of mind. I completely forgot about the time and was surprised that it was already dinnertime when Jon came home and found me in the back.

Sigh…our plans kind of got pushed aside by school in the spring. Think I might try to help my mom outside though.

So um, there aren’t very clear criteria for passing this, heh. My mom and I got out yesterday and cleared the huge nasty weeds and debris from the vegetable garden area yesterday, and put them in the compost heap. Then we sprayed Roundup all over the garden area to kill the weeds (we haven’t had a real garden back there for years, it’s just been a mess). Now we have to wait, and then water it, probably apply Roundup again because they’re REALLY nasty, then we’re going to rototill, then level out the place where there’s a giant mound (not like a cucumber mound, heh), then add some good stuff to the soil, then when it’s warm enough, we’ll plant the seeds we’ve already started (we have baby plants, yay!). So technically, I’ve already worked in the garden this year, but I think I’ll “pass it off” when we get the veggies planted:)
