watch twin peaks

Since my perceptions of Season have changed, I thought I should watch Fire Walk With Me again and see if I had just misunderstood it the first time round.

No. It’s still not that great. The problem is that it doesn’t capture the quirkiness that made the TV series so wonderful. I don’t think it answers any questions (and in fact in true Lynchian style it only poses more questions). All it does is portray information that is implied in the series. There are some good scenes though.

I was wrong. It didn’t go downhill. The Windom Earle story line was still pretty compelling viewing. The highlight for me was the end of the last episode. That was magic!!

and I can’t get enough of it. But now I’m at the crucial point where Laura’s murder is solved and from what I can remember (almost 20 years ago!!) I’m pretty sure it’s all downhill from here.

• The characters are amazing. Pete Martell is my absolute favourite – he steals every scene he’s in as far as I’m concerned. I started writing a list of my other favourites but it got too long. I could write a lot about the characters.
• The details in each scene are fascinating. There’s one where I can’t remember who’s in the foreground but there’s a barbershop quartet in the background. Not singing. Just there. There’s just so much to see. Each scene is carefully and artfully composed like a photo.
• The story and the sub-plots is well told and interesting.
• The comedic moments are hilarious. Albert’s non-violence speech to Sheriff Truman made me laugh out loud.

The one thing that really jolted was the fact that between season 1 and 2 (which in Twin Peaks time was a couple of days) Donna Hayward’s hair had grown a lot and Shelly Johnson’s had changed colour. Lynch wasn’t big on continuity.

It’s the greatest. There’s so many scenes that crack me up. Ben Horne and his brother are the funniest characters conceived for television.

My boyfriend suggested I watch the European Pilot and got me hooked. Downloading the rest of the episodes seems like a hassle. I think we’ll wait ‘till the DVD re-release on Oct. 30th!

Now that I’ve finally gotten all the way through it, I feel like I understand it a bit more now. And just how cool and revoluntionary and unique it really was.

Awesome. I totally recommend this to anyone who is a fan of surrealism or good, quality TV or films.

Currently on Episode 16 of 22 in Season 2. I finally started to get into it… the episodes right up until they revealed who killed Laura were really good. I’m not so sure how the rest of the season is going to hold up… but I’m almost finished, finally, yaay!

Next week, my pretties!

I forced myself to start watching again. I’m not really enjoying them all that much, but they are starting to get better as I’m getting further along in Season 2. I’ll just be glad to get this one off my list, I think. :p

I finished season 1, haha it was really short, so that was easy.

I’ve downloaded all of Season 2. Maybe I’ll watch some this weekend. I need to do this rather quickly, since Fire Walk With Me just came from Netflix…
