How I did it: I think it was 2 years ago. It was Christmas, and my parents showed I had one present to go, and it was my first ever guitar. I was totally ecstatic! It came with a small amp, a cord, and a tutorial video. I was so excited to learn, I went to town on the video. I watched every single lesson, and went over some of them a lot of times. It also came with a bonus section showing how to change your strings (thank goodness, because my high E-st… Read how I did it…
How I did it: About a year and a half ago I decided I should actually learn to play guitar. The first month was the worst. It’s easy to get frustrated and want to give up. It feels like you’ll never get there, the chord shapes and changes just DO NOT come naturally, but once you get through the first “wall” (and there are subsequent walls later on, believe me) it gets so much easier and when you put it together with singing (seems insanely hard at firs… Read how I did it…
Anime_Punker pretty frick'n good
How I did it: PRACTICE. I also took music class at school, but I learned the most on my own. Video lessons on YouTube are your best friend. I'm no expert at playing but i can play decently once I learn a song, but the learning continues everyday. And i love the way the tips of my fingers feel after playing for a while. Read how I did it…

How I did it: My father and brother both play guitar. One day I found a simple song on youtube from one of my favorite bands I wanted to learn to play. My brother showed me the chords and taught me how to read tabs. It took me a couple weeks to get that song down and yes, your fingers will hurt. After that, II was able to play other basic chord songs on my own. I'm no expert on guitar, but I've learned enough to keep me happy. Read how I did it…
jrods is getting ready to film some john butler style strummings!
How I did it: i knew i wanted to learn after hearing AC/DC's T.N.T, that song just made my body tingle, and i knew that i wanted to play the electric guitar. The first couple of months were ropey, and i picked it up on and off, but the main thing you HAVE to get in your mind is that its just perseverance. There will be times when you just want to throw your guitar out your window, but don't. Once you break that barrier after a few months, you will get … Read how I did it…

My dad gifted me a guitar a long time ago and I never learned to play it. I think four lessons will come to $100 and plan on checking out this particular studio, hopefully learn some chords and songs and practice as much as I can.
If I can I will continue to study four lessons at a time until I have made it six months or a year.
LetMeStand a different kind of beautiful
Got re-inspired one random LATE night when a friend taught me three easy chords :-)
I picked up the guitar two days ago and tried them again for about ten minutes… then yesterday I taught myself to read tabs and played a WHOLE SONG!!! shakily, and slowly, but mostly recognizable :-D and felt so stoked I rewarded myself with a piece of chocolate cake at 2am!
WOO HOO!!!
ps… my fingers hurt!
BReADLEY can someone tell me how to send a one on one message to somebody
Guitar, now this is something I attempted to learn 2 years ago my friend who was staying with me at the time was very motivational and we started learning the song by Ben Harper: Walk Away. Only achieving the first small part of the song I did eventually give up after a week.
It wasn’t until last week that I decided to give it another go when another friend offered me a guitar. I am loving it so far and am starting to become very passionate about it I can’t seem to put it down. Its only been a week and I now can play the whole lot of the song I tried 2 years prior. I am currently half way through working on the song “Kryptonite” by 3 doors down. I have been learning through reading tabs on Guitar Pro.
I can now play recognizable songs and am ridiculously proud of my new finger callouses. it also made me happy to find a guitar pick in my purse, not because it was a piece of jewelery or belonged to a friend, but because I (am learning to) play the guitar.
This was probably the most nervous I’ve ever been about buying something. I did my research and went to the guitar store pretty set on the Yamaha FG700S, which is what I ended up getting. Ir made me really nervous that I don’t yet have a good enough ear to here what a really good guitar sounds like and that being in the store looking at guitars didn’t really make it any easier for me to pick one. However, my guitar has a beautiful, mellow, relatively quiet sound and I love it :)
so i’ve pretty much got the hang of it. i’m still a total newbie, but i’ve learned new chords and have figured out a few tiny things on my own. i can now play seven different songs with confidence and the list keeps growing!
