How to learn to play guitar

 "You are always still learning, but i can play decently every once and a little while :)"
How I did it: Played with friends (Especially the ones that will teach you what they know instead of just playing for you) looked up how to play popular songs on the internet and just tried to play them so you could tell what they were :) Took a Music Theory Class, and learned a little bit about what we can know about music in about that order :) AND PRACTICE!
Lessons & tips: Whenever you are motivated play! nothing like time to help you learn Resources: A good music teacher Google guitar tabs of your favorite songs :) Play with friends that play guitar! Learning to play all types of music Play your own stuff!

I really wish I would have done it sooner.but by all means, I am not saying I am good at playing. but I can put things together to play beginner rhythm guitar. How I did it: Well i been doing it for 4 years now, but i only practiced like once every week for 20 minutes, cos that was when my lesson was HAHA.but my mate has been doing it for 2 years now, and he taught himself, he bought Guitar mags and learned every Metalica song possible, he practiced non-stop. and he is like fucking amazing, can play like all BMTH's songs without lookin hahaha. I'm making progress.

I’ve really made some progress with my guitar playing. I’m definently not good, but I can play several songs if I get the chords. I still don’t like chords where you have to hold down every string, but I know a lot more chords than I did. A capo has helped a lot too, it’s doubled the amount of songs I can play. The best sites for chords for songs are www.ultimate-guitar.com, and my favorite chord chart is at www.8notes.com. :)

I’ve always loved everything about a guitar. I love its shape, the way it sounds, the way it sits on the lap of a person playing, the coordination it takes to play, the “coolness” of being able to pick the tune of your favorite song. I want to learn to play. After (hopefully) getting one for my birthday this year, I will attempt to learn!

i’m thinking maybe if i learn tab, it’ll be a lot easier. i know they have nearly every song written in a tab version somewhere on the internet, and i have a lot of friends who learned that way… hmm…

Learn just the basics first…such as reading books, watching videos, and then have an idea of how I can achieve it…AND then hire an instructor for a month. When I go back to school in September, I’ll take a private class that is offered through the school.
