Finally made it to the Highland Games in San Diego a few weeks ago. It’s been about ten years. It was a truly epic weekend, and my buddy and I are inspired to train to compete for next year. Due to my job, I may or may not be able to make it to the Games in 2009, but I’m gonna train and prepare nonetheless. It’s grrreat!

I won’t be living where there will be a Highland games so I don’t plan to pursue this any more.

My trainer knows of this goal and understands the events. He is working with my of improving stability, strength and endurance.
In just a few weeks I can see and feel the difference in stability already. The strengh improves each week as well. I guess the endurance must be improving. It’s hard to tell since the sessions are always an hour, but since the intensity increases with each session I guess my endurance must be improving.

My trainer is working me on things that will help with my stability at this point. I’m already pretty strong, but the small stibilizing muscles needed some work.
Next step is to get some of the items to practice with. Fortunately I live next to a school with a big athletic field where I can do this.
